Whether the stylist is free or not, I don't think I can afford more than one outfit at Nordstrom, and that would be a splurge. TRUST ME, I am VERY far from having a lot of money. I save like 20-50.00 out of each check until I have enough to get "whatever" it is I am wanting (OR NEEDING) I got a little bonus at work and I put that away and then I have saved a little extra so that's why I thought I could at least go get a few outfits and treat myself and my hubby says.....GO!!! He knows... Continue Reading

I was always over weight so I tend to still cover up. It's not like I'm a skinny mini now or anything it's just my shape is better than it was before but I still dress like I am way over weight. Nobody says I have to buy anything if I'm not comfortable. There is no obligation to buy and I just might learn something I didn't know before :0 I love the show "What not to Wear" - they always look amazing and confident at the end of the sho... I try to go in when they offer 20-30% and the sales assistance helps pair together several outfits that will get me through the season. Thank you!! Once I find out what I like then I might feel more comfortable going to "smaller" stores but for now I feel the bigger stores will have a wider selection if that makes sense? Thanks for sharing your experience. :) Continue Reading

This way you can go to several stores which range in price points. Takes several days but much more is accomplished. I did think about this but with my limited budget, I'm not a rich girl, very far from, I can't afford the cost for them PLUS the cost for the clothing too, you know what I mean? That's the only r... The more she used her the better it got. She now just calls and tells her what she needs and it is all put together for her - shoes, bag and accessories. I would highly recommend! That is GREAT!! However, I'm not sure I could afford all the shoes, bags, accessories at Nordstrom - BUT, I can take the IDEA and get the accessories at another more affordable store. Macy's has this service too, I might need to stick with Macy's ... Continue Reading

They interview you to find out about your lifestyle, your preferences. etc. Then they pick out a lot of outfits for you to try on, and they select jewelry and shoes to go with the outfits. What I like about it is it gets you thinking outside the box. I tend to be stuck in the "blazer" mode. I literally have more than 50 blazers. The shopper gets me trying on sweaters and other items I normally don't buy, and to my surprise I like them. That sounds great!! Now you and I may be able to share closets, I h... I am excited but at the same time, I worry about the pressure to buy everything. I have about 800.00 that I have put away a little at a time to use on some new cloths - I really don't want to go over what I have saved, that's why I figure 3 or 4 (depending on cost) outfits to get me started. It was helpful having someone push me outside of my comfort zone. I really need to do it again. Congrats on the weight loss and even more congrats on the maintenance! I hope others who've used the service more recently at Macys and or Nordstrom chime in. That's what I am hoping for ...get me out of my "comfort zone" - I see so many things I want to wear but I'm just not sure how to pull the whole look together and... Continue Reading

Macy's & Nordstrom offers this service for FREE and I am "thinking" about trying it. To be honest, I have seen many "What not to wear" Shows and I love the way the gals look so pulled together with their wardrobe by the end of the show and I think to myself "That's what I want to do" Of Course, I cannot afford a WHOLE new wardrobe but I thought maybe 3 complete looks to start and then I can build on that from the tips / ideas they give to me. I lost a LOT (a whole lot) of weight over 17 years ago and have managed to keep 98% of it off and I have never updated my look or dressed for my sh... Continue Reading
