Here are some of the most frequently asked customer questions answered by our Serta expert about the brand and our new Serta Envelop Super Pillowtop Mattress Set.  

Q: Will the middle of the mattress hump up, as did the two Serta's I've owned in past two years?

A: Many of Serta’s top quality mattresses use technologically advanced foams and fibers that are designed to be softer and more comfortable whileproviding your body has the with support you need. By cradling your body, these materials help to provide pressure relieving comfort near the sleep surface. For that reason, in the first few weeks you sleep on a new mattress that offers these extra comfort layers, you will likely notice some body impressions on the mattress surface.

These impressions are normal and shouldn't be considered a sign that something is wrong with your new mattress. You may want to rotate your mattress from end-to-end and from top-to-bottom. After a few weeks, the impressions will begin to smooth out and, over time, disappear.

Q: How long do they stay firm/supportive?

A: The warranty card is included with every bed sold. The manufacturer's limited warranty is a product warranty, not a "comfort" warranty. It warrants against manufacturing defects in workmanship and material ONLY (excluding the cover), and can become void if the unit is soiled or not cared for properly. Be sure to keep the law tag on at the end of the mattress. The tag has important manufacturing information about your mattress that you will need in the event of a warranty claim.

Q: What is the firmness level of this bed?

A: Medium Plush

Q: Does the cal king mattress come with a split box spring?

A: Yes.

Q: How many inner springs are in this mattress?

A: There is only one innerspring within Serta Mattresses.  The coil density for the Serta Envelop Super Pillowtop Mattress Set is provided in the FAQ and below:

Q: Depth of Fitted Sheets for the Serta?

A: The Serta Envelop Mattress is 13.5" in profile and will fit in most standard size sheets.

Q: Does this have a split foundation?

A: Split Queen, King and Cal King sizes come with split foundations.

Q: Is there a weight limit on the frame?

A: Serta does not have a weight limit for its mattresses. Serta mattresses will support normal wear and tear if properly supported and cared for by customer.  See Serta warranty card.

Q: Will they stop smelling? Delivered and smell. How long will it take before they stop smelling. They are stinking up the whole room. Thank you.

A: Like a new car, your new mattress may have a slight odor when it is first delivered and unwrapped. After allowing the mattress to breathe for a short period of time without sheets, you should not notice any odor.

Q: Is a mattress cover necessary with this serta?

A: Yes, it is advised that all Serta mattresses should be protected with a water proof mattress protector.

Q: I live in a second floor apartment. Will Serta deliver the mattresses to my apartment? Thanks

A: Yes.  However it is important to measure your hallway and doorways to ensure the mattress will fit.  Serta offers split foundations in the Queen, King and Cal King.  See Serta 'Delivery Measurements' guide and 'FAQ' for mattress dimensions.

Q: Where do they haul away the "old" mattress set to? Will they just leave it outside of my home?

A: The mattress set will be put on the truck and removed from the customer's property and properly disposed of.

Q: What is the density of the foam?

A: We do not provide density of the foam layers.  The Serta Envelop does have gel memory foam.

Q: What is the comfort scale--firm, medium or soft?

A: The Serta Envelop Mattress is Medium Plush.

Q: Is a new bed frame necessary?

A: Serta Queen- and King-size beds require a metal bed frame (or bed base) with a rigid center support. Preferably, the center support for a Queen should have one leg, while the center support for a King should have two legs. Using the proper frame will help your warranty remain valid and help your mattress last.

Q: Please explain reason for purchase of the split box spring. What is the purpose of the split box? Does it impact or change the comfort level?

A: Offers the same sleeping space as a queen; however, the foundation components are smaller and easier to maneuver in smaller homes or homes with narrow hallways, stairwells or doorways.

Q: What if I don't need the boxspring and which is the coil count?

A: Serta mattresses are designed to use a coordinating foundation built to provide proper support and durability to the mattress. Putting a new mattress on an old box spring may cause your mattress to sag or wear sooner. Therefore, your bed may not perform as well, and your warranty may be void.  See Serta warranty Card for proper care.

Q: Are the coils individually wrapped? Do you offer low profile box springs?

A: The Serta Envelop Super Pillowtop Mattress Coils are not individually wrapped.  Serta's Coil System is a Continuous Support Innerspring made with strong tempered steel.  Rows of continuous coils made from tempered steel work to provide support along the entire length of the body.  Each coil attaches to the coils around it and runs head to toe for stability and durability, and helps to absorb motion.  Total Edge Foam Encasement helps prevent sagging at the mattress edges while extending your sleep surface, so you have more room to stretch.  This encasement design reinforces the mattress edges with extra foam support.  This particular mattress is only available with a low profile foundation.
They are open coils.

Q: Return information for the serta mattress. Can this mattress be returned and how long is allowed before return?

A: If you are not satisfied with your purchase within 30 days, you may return your order for a refund. All product returns or replacement requests after the 30-day guarantee will be treated as a warranty claim. See Serta Warranty Card and FAQ for more details.

Q: I have a platform bed that does not use box springs. Does this mattress work well without a box spring? Also, how do I decline the box spring and do I have to pay for them if I don't take them?

A: This mattress will work with a platform bed.  See Serta Warranty Card to ensure your platform bed has the proper support required under the Serta warranty.  The boxspring can be refused at the time of delivery if you do not want it however the boxspring is included with this offer so no credit will be given. It could also be used to replace another boxspring in a guest room or given to a family member, friend or charity.

Q: Questions about setting up this bed. Forgive me, I am not too knowledgeable. Can you simply place this mattress and its foundation on the floor, and then it is ready for use? Or, do you need more equipment to sleep on this bed?

And, I would suppose you need special sheets, because this Serta is so thick. Which sheets do you buy so that they fit?

A: Serta Queen- and King-size beds require a metal bed frame (or bed base) with a rigid center support. Q: Is this mattress considered to be soft or a firm one. I need a firm mattress

A: The Serta Envelop Super Pillowtop mattress is medium plush.

Q: What does split queen mattress mean?

A: Split foundations are made up of two (2) separate foundations placed side-by-side, and are designed for delivery to places where a normal whole box spring will not fit, such as through tight doorways, staircases or around narrow corners. All King size mattresses use Split foundations. Queen size foundations are available in two (2) types: Whole and Split foundations. Split Queen Foundations are two 30 inch X 79.5 inch foundations that equal the size of one (1) whole Queen. If you think you will require a Split foundation, you should make sure to order a Split Queen Set.

Q: Does it come with a bed frame?

A: No.

Q: Does this mattress come with the boxsprings?

A: Yes.

Q: Are all  Serta mattresses spill proof?

A: No.  Serta recommends using a waterproof Mattress Protector.

Q: What is the difference between a split queen and a queen?

Q: Dos this mattress need to be turned periodically ?

A: Serta mattresses are specifically designed not to be flipped. The mattress should be rotated regularly to even out normal wear for optimal performance. Simply rotate the top (head portion) to the bottom position once every two weeks for the first three months of use, and once every eight weeks thereafter.

Q: Does this mattress/foundation fit a standard full frame?

A: Serta mattresses come in standard dimensions.  See Serta 'FAQ' to ensure measurements will work in your existing furniture.  Serta Queen- and King-size beds require a metal bed frame (or bed base) with a rigid center support. Q: How sturdy is this bed?

Q: Do they deliver to your door only? Do they not place the mattress in the bedroom on the frame?

A: The delivery service is a "white glove" 2 person service that includes: inside placement to room of choice, stair carries (up to 2 flights), unpacking, set-up of basic frame (tool less), removal of debris and removal and disposal of old bedding. Standard delivery service is Monday–Friday 8:00AM–5:00PM and limited evening and Saturday delivery.  Excludes major holidays including New Year's Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, the Friday after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve Day, and Christmas Day. 

Q: What does Split Queen mean?

A: Split foundations are made up of two (2) separate foundations placed side-by-side, and are designed for delivery to places where a normal whole box spring will not fit, such as through tight doorways, staircases or around narrow corners. All King size mattresses use Split foundations. Queen size foundations are available in two (2) types: Whole and Split foundations. Q: Use on bunk bed or daybed?

A: The Serta Envelop Super Pillowtop mattress is 13.5" tall.  This may be too tall for a bunk bed.  Be sure to measure the height of the current mattress to determine if this mattress height will accommodate your needs.

Q: Can I substitute wooden slats for the lack of the center support bar on the present order?

A: No, we do not recommend this. Please see Serta Warranty Card for more detail on support requirements.

Q: Does this king size mattress have handles on the sides so it can be rotated easily?

A: No.

Q: Can this mattress be flipped?

A: No.  Serta mattresses are specifically designed not to be flipped.

Q: Can this set be placed on a slat bed frame?

A: Yes, it can be used with a Platform bed.  See Serta Warranty Card for required specification.

Q: How thick is the mattress?

A: The Serta Envelop Super Pillowtop mattress is approximately 13.5" tall.  The boxspring is 6" tall.
