When Is The Last Time A 3-Year-Old Complimented You?

I should start this blog by saying that whenever I fly, I always wear ballet flats. I have two reasons for this footwear choice -- one, a ballet flat is easy to slip on and off when going through airport security and two, on the long haul across country, they’re comfortable if my feet start to swell in flight.

I was standing in the security line at the San Francisco airport on my way back to Pennsylvania after visiting with my family in California this summer. In line in front of me was a man with a little girl who looked to be about three years old -- obviously father and daughter. I didn't pay much attention at first, but after a while, I noticed the little girl kept looking in my direction. I smiled at her as we inched closer to the TSA agents at the front of the line.

After a few minutes, the man picked up the little girl and she whispered in his ear, but she was still turning back and looking at me. And now HE was looking at me too. “What is up?”, I thought as we continued to make our way through the stanchions in line.

I was just starting to feel a little weird about this pint-sized-stare-down, when the father turned directly toward me and said, “She likes your shoes!”

A big smile crossed my face and an even bigger one crossed the little girl’s when I began talking to her about the glitter covered ballet flats that I had chosen to wear that day. It turns out 3-year olds love a good sparkly shoe when they see one too!

I have lots of shoe stories and I’ll bet you do too! We’re going to talk more about shoes in the coming weeks so keep checking in. In the meantime, we have a Today’s Special Value from Orthaheel that looks and feels great.

I love it in the red AND I would bet it would stop a 3-year-old in her tracks!

"See" you tomorrow morning for AM Beauty and AM Style!
