I recently had an engagement photo session scheduled on location in and around our West Chester, PA area. Of course I was bringing my big, heavy DSLR to photograph the couple, along with all the accessories that a pro brings. As I was leaving the house I saw the Olympus SZ-31 point-and-shoot digital camera sitting on the counter. I decided to grab it and stick it in my camera bag, thinking I might pull it out and snap a pic or two.

 

During the photo shoot at a local farm, I gave the couple a break from posing and tried out the Olympus. I immediately fell in love with it! It is easy to navigate because it has a cool touchscreen on the back that makes it easy to scroll through all of the settings--including favorites like portrait and pet mode. But what I really wanted to check out was the 3D photo maker. Imagine taking 3D photos then looking at them on your big screen TV! So I took tons of photos...now all I need is a 3D TV! Ha!

 

 

 

But my favorite discovery was the zoom. As I was walking by a barn (which was easily three stories tall) I saw some movement near the top. I couldn’t figure out what all that fluttering was, so I grabbed the Olympus and zoomed in.

 

 

Can you spot what was making all of that noise?

 

It was several birds sitting on top of the rocky wall of the old barn. Not only was I was able to zoom in and see them, I managed to get great shots of them!

 

 

As you can see, the pictures are sharp and the zoom is powerful.

 

This is a fun camera to use, and to have fun with. You can play with some of the pop filters and edit photos right inside the camera! This camera is so easy to use it could put pro photographers like myself out of work…

 

(Shhh don't tell anyone I said that!)
