I recently watched a documentary on Steve Jobs and Apple®, and one of the descriptions I found so on target was that Steve Jobs was able to create a product we all needed before we even knew we needed it. That’s so true. Fifteen years ago, who would have thought we needed a smartphone, an iPad, or even a computer to make it through our busy days? Not me. I think back to my college days when email was just a fun way to say “hi” to a friend halfway across the country. Today, apps dominate our lives with constant access to news, email, sports scores, games and more. My iPad has become a constant companion, and the mini version does the same for my wife.

Now, don’t let the “mini” name fool you. This isn’t a lesser version of the iPad. It’s still an Apple® device which means it’s pretty awesome. The only thing mini is the size and weight. With a 7.9” screen, the mini is almost 2 inches smaller than a regular iPad and at less than 7/10ths of a pound, it is the lightest iPad ever. That means it’s easy to toss into your bag and take anywhere. The thing I like most about the mini is how easy it is to hold. The 7.9” screen size wasn’t just some random number Apple chose. This size has the feel of a book sitting in your hand. This makes it the ideal companion for reading your morning paper or even more impressively, a magazine with all of that awesome color photography. Of course, you can still do anything on an iPad mini that you can do on a big boy iPad, now it’s just a little easier to carry around.

Speaking of those magazines, the Apple® iPad mini TSV coming to QVC on Monday will include a $100 voucher to the digital newsstand Zinio. For those of you unfamiliar with this free app, it’s a must have. Zinio is where you’ll find your favorite magazine titles that can be downloaded onto your iPad and read anywhere you go. Yes, the days of cramming four different magazines into your bag or watching them slide across the dash as you drive down the road are over. We’ll also have a Bluetooth speaker and a whole slew of other goodies made just for your mini, so check us out on the Q this Monday, February 18th for the awesome world of Apple®, just a little smaller.
