Video Blog: Oprah Flashback plus a Behind-the-Scenes Peek at Hot Holiday Gift Picks

Posted by Judith Ripka 1355265629.767

Dear Friends,

I always love this time of year, as it is a time to celebrate – to be festive, to enjoy your family, and to look forward to new beginnings.

As a designer and a visual person by nature, I am a firm believer that a pictures tell a thousand words.  So, in that spirit, I decided to use “modern day pictures,” a video, to share my holiday thoughts.

Every holiday season, I reflect on how much I have to be grateful for.  I am particularly grateful for your support and the support of great friends and fans.  And, I am very lucky to be able to call Oprah one of my fans.  The video below is from Oprah’s 2010 Favorite Things show in which she featured my Sterling Silver Eclipse Earrings as one of her “Favorite Things.”

Since that episode aired, the Eclipse Earrings have received tremendous press, and as you can imagine, they immediately became one of my best sellers.  Therefore, soon after this debut on Oprah, I decided to add this design to my QVC collection, so that all of you could enjoy Oprah’s favorite.  So, although these earrings are not new to my collection, they are one of my favorites and available at in CanaryPink Diamonique, and Black Diamonque

Moving on to the new and exciting designs for my December shows, the young women on my Public Relations team, Jessica and Emily, surprised me with their own “Hot Holiday Gift Picks” video.  Jessica and Emily quietly asked my Executive Assistant for my design journal, so that they would know which pieces were my favorites, and then combined that list with their own favorites to create this very fun, video blog.  They even snuck into my office and filmed it behind my desk.  Although the pieces are hard to see up close, the video gives you insight into how and why some of my new pieces are our favorites for this holiday season.

And, so that you can truly see how beautiful these pieces are in advance of my Thursday's shows, I have included images of them below.  I am most excited about this video, because every holiday season, one of the questions I receive most is:  What gift should I buy?  What is your hot holiday pick of the season?  I hope you enjoy this video, and please make sure to let me know what your favorite Judith Ripka piece of jewelry is and what you think would make a great holiday gift.  I always think that we get the best ideas from each other, so I am hoping that everyone will  share their favorites in the comment section below this post.  (I really do read everyone’s comments!)

My top “hot holiday picks” are my new TSV pieces, J274840, the Country Link Bracelet or Necklace with Removeable Heart Charm.  The custom hand-cast lobster claw and heart charm, as well as the Rhodium finish, give this piece the feel of true luxury and the look of platinum or 18k white gold jewelry.  And, even though this piece embodies many of my signature elements and is a timeless classic, it also features my newest texture on the oversized lobster claw, my braided berge.  For those of you who want the perfect classic chain, this necklace is for you, and if you love to stack cuffs and bracelets, I know you will enjoy this bracelet which is very versatile and will layer beautifully with every bracelet in your jewelry box.

I also love the two Milky Aqua pieces that Jessica and Emily featured in the video blog, the Sterling Milky Aqua Bead Necklace (J274740), with coordinating earrings (J277334).  The perfect pop of color, this necklace is a great statement piece that will also become a wardrobe classic for you, as the Milky Aqua hue feels neutral, as it compliments grays, blacks, browns, taupes, and more.  The earrings embody a look for understated elegance, and, like Jessica said in the video blog, these two pieces look exquisite when worn as a pair, and not too “matchy matchy.”

Lastly, I want to highlight my new Teardrop Earrings (J276282), because although Jessica and Emily did not feature it in the video blog, I think that this earring is a great holiday earring with movement and glamour.  What I love most about these earrings is the detail and filigree work giving them a classic, deco Estate look and feel, which combined with the oversized tear drop shape balances this look, so that it is also has a very fashion-forward, festive feel.  I know you will enjoy wearing them this holiday season!

So, please make sure you tune in to my upcoming December shows which kick off on Thursday, December 13 at midnight with my TSV.  I will be on-air with Rick from 12midnight until 1am, then my gorgeous daughter-in-law, Allison will take over from 1am to 2am.  My son, Brian, will be on air from 3 - 4am, and then Allison will return from 10am to 12noon.  I will be back on air on from 2 -4pm, 6 - 8pm, and ending the year with my dear friend, Lisa Robertson, from 10pm to midnight

Thank you again for all of your support this past year.  I wish each and every one of you a very happy and healthy holiday season.

With much love,

Hi Judith,

Happy holidays. Just wanted to take a moment to thank you for all the beautiful jewelry you continue to design for all the QVC customers. I can say from personal experience you have spoiled me so that I no longer purchase or wear any jewelry but yours. I would love to see you design a" Diamonique Pave Paw Print Enhancer" for all the dog lovers who also love you and your jewelry. I think it would look unique to wear a pave dog paw print enhancer along with one of your pave heart enhancers. Just a small request for the new year. I always look forward to all your new items. Even if some designs are not my style. I can still appreciate their beauty on someone else. Merry Christmas and Happy New year to you and your family.

Happy Holidays to Judith, Allison, Beth, Brian and all of the Ripka crew!!!

You continue to amaze us. Whenever we think that you have done it all, you come back with even more exciting things. The milky pieces look lovely, and I am so curious to see that 72" necklace! What a unique way to do pearls! I just can't imagine the effect, so I need to see them on Suzanne (please put her in the longest version) to see what these babies look like - lol, but if they have your name on them, there is no doubt they will be superb.

3 requests:

1. a green goddess clip-on to put on that great black leather necklace. I have the ring and earrings, and I love them.

2. we are due for a new silver chain with gold clad accents.

3. for the spring - light blue doublets!!!! maybe with a light blue leather necklace or light blue silicone watch. Maybe a big blue doublet Monaco??? {#emotions_dlg.devil2}

Thanks so much and a happy and healthy new year to you and your family!

Happy Holidays to you and your family! Since you always seem to encourage new ideas, I wanted to make a few suggestions to you as follows:

* I would love some beautiful flower/floral pieces, enhancers, ring, etc...;

* A hematite doublet enhancer to wear with other pieces in the collection;

* A horse enhancer for the many equestrian enthusiasts that wear your jewelry; and

* A "chopard" or "floating gemstone or floating diamond" style piece would be outstanding

with your jewelry

As always, God Bless and thank you for all of your beautiful jewelry!

Hi Judith, I'm fairly new to your line on QVC and am having so much fun adding new pieces. I bought the TSV necklace with an initial enhancer. My late husband's name is John and our son is Jeffrey, so of course I got the J.

I heard you are coming out with new watches in 2013. I would love to see a matching watch for men and women. Just a thought.

Thanks! XO

Hi Judith!

Since everyone ia also asking you to consider new items for your line, I thought I'd jump on the band wagon with a twist.

I would love to see some of your current rings in smaller sizes (3 and 4) for the pinkie. J267836 is a perfect example. What about blending the color green using different gemstones. Chrome diopside and peridot?

Last but not least, I just wanted to wish you a holiday season filled with love and laughter to share with family and friends.

Thank you.

I was watching a TV program titled 666 Park Avenue starring Vanessa Williams. She took another two of the main characters (who were living together contemplating marriage) under her wing. When the character Henry was contemplating purchasing an engagement ring for his live-in girlfriend Jane, Vanessa Williams told him only the best would do and she would take him to JUDITH RIPKA!!!!!! How's that for some PR??????

Hi Judith, I purchased your TSV J274840 Country Link Bracelet in the large. Unfortunately, I find I need just a little more length. I do not want to return it but would like your advice on making it longer. I seem to recall hearing you speak about a phone number (other than QVC) that one could call in your organization to have your pieces altered/repaired? Thanks for your help. Happy Holidays!

Judith my husband purchased your new estate emerald cuff (I told him I wanted it), and I received it for Christmas!! BEAUTIFUL!!! I love this look! It looks great with your emerald estate ring!! Please bring more real emeralds to QVC......my favorite looks are white pearls and emeralds! Can you possibly bring us a mabe pearl ring with emerald accents and earrings to match?

Thank you so much for everything you do,

Have you met or seen my friend Harvey? Harvey loves Judith Ripka and her jewelry!! He says," Judith Ripka makes me very "hoppy!"

Happy New Year Judith! Would you ever consider creating an Angel Wing ring and pendant. There are several different designs of the Angel Wing out there however, I am a huge collector of yours and would love to add something like that to my Judith Ripka collection. It would have a lot of meaning to me and I am sure to many others as well! I hope that you will consider it. Thank you! Sallyann, NYC

Good evening,

This really isn't on topic but I can not find anyplace to pose my question. I purchased both your ceramic watches (black and white)and pretty much wear one or the other every day. I have lost a stone in the black watch and need to know if I can send to you to have it repaired or do I need to go to a jeweler.

Enjoyed reading your blogs while trying to find where I could make my inquiry. Need to get up to speed with technology. This is my first posting. Thanking you in advance for your response.

Love to watch your shows. I have quite a few of your pieces and especially love the thin bangles and the rolling bracelet. One of my favorite bracelets is a hinged bangle (love)that was the match to a ring and earring set of the same pattern. Still wear this set all the time and it looks great alone or mixed with the thin bangles or any of my other bracelets. I also have the rose quartz and hematite bead bracelets with the heart and fleur di lis charms. Unfortunately the hematite bracelet broke and I was wondering if there is someplace to send it to be restrung. I really appreciate that you bring pieces that I can afford that are great quality and look like I spent a lot more than I did. Hope you and your family have a very happy and healthy new year.

Many years ago I purchased a JR braided leather bracelet with a heart charm and magnetic clasp in Las Vegas (If memory serves me.) I just loved wearing that bracelet and received many compliments on it. The bracelet was always appropriate - not to much or too little - and I just loved it. But, alas, the bracelet was lost and I still think about that bracelet and how it became "my" signature piece. I believe Judith Ripka puts a little piece of her heart in every piece of jewelry she makes...you can almost feel her presence when wearing her jewelry. Like having a friend with you everywhere you go. Thanks for the opportunity to share my JR story. Good Luck to all of us!!!
