The Year of the Quarterback

by on ‎10-15-2010 01:10 PM

This NFL season is shaping up to be the “Year of the Quarterback.”  Obviously, the quarterback is the most important player on any NFL team because he is the leader.  Great leaders “fire up” their troops on and off the field.

Brett Favre achieved NFL immortality “on the field” this week throwing his 500th career touchdown pass to fellow hall-of-famer Randy Moss (please see last week’s blog as I mentioned this as a great possibility.)  Even more impressively Favre passed the 70,000 yards passing plateau to put himself in a stratosphere that no other quarterback has approached.  His consecutive games played streak may be in jeopardy with his sore elbow.  I have had the pleasure of interviewing Brett on several occasions and he has always been very pleasant to deal with.  I hope these current “off the field” allegations are not true.

There is an interesting quarterback match-up happening this Sunday in the Saints/Bucs game.  Drew Brees is having another typical “Brees Season.”  He has already thrown nine touchdown passes and is typically in the 300-400 yard range per game.  His counterpart this week is Josh Freeman.  Freeman is a very young quarterback (only 22 years old.)  He is a big kid with an exceptionally strong arm.  He’s getting better with every game.  Speaking of young quarterbacks, Colt McCoy will be getting his first start this Sunday (due to injuries to Jake Delhomme and Seneca Wallace.)  What an auspicious start having to face the tough Pittsburgh Steelers defense.  Oh, by the way,  Ben Rothlisberger returns under center for the Steelers following his four game suspension.

QVC will help you throw a touchdown pass to that NFL fan on your holiday list with a warm, cozy NFL Helmet Slanket and the sharpest Sherpa lined hoodie we’ve ever offered on a special easy pay offer this coming Monday (Oct. 18) in the NFL Shop.  I hope to see you there!
