Cream of Broccoli Soup
Can you believe winter is almost here? As the weather gets colder this soup will warm up even the coldest of nights.
Prep time: 5 minutes
Cook time: 10 minutes
1 cup chicken or vegetable stock
1 cup broccoli florets
½ avocado, peeled and pitted
1 small clove garlic
2 teaspoons freshly grated Parmesan cheese
½ teaspoon celery seeds (optional)
(optional extra cup of broccoli for thicker soup)
Instructions:
• In a saucepan, bring the stock to a simmer.
• Add the broccoli and steam covered for 5 to 7 minutes or until the broccoli is tender.
• Add the broccoli, stock, avocado and garlic to the large tumbler and blend until smooth.
• Serve immediately garnished with Parmesan cheese.
Blackberry Spinach Smoothie
Blackberries add a deliciously distinctive berry flavor to green smoothies
2 teaspoons flaxseed
1 cup fresh blackberries
½ cup fresh spinach, firmly packed
½ cup coconut water
3 ice cubes
Instructions:
• Place the flaxseed in the small tumbler.
• Fasten the grinding blade to the cup and grind the seeds until powder.
• Add the blackberries, spinach, coconut water, ice, and flaxseed powder to the large tumbler.
• Fasten the blending (cross) blade attachment to the tumbler and blend until smooth.
Moroccan Almond Smoothie
Almond smoothies are very popular in Morocco. A tiny bit of orange flower water gives this almond shake its classic taste.
Prep time: 5 minutes
½ cup blanched almonds
1 ½ cup skim milk
1 teaspoon sweetener
¼ teaspoon orange flower water
3 ice cubes
Instructions:
• Add the almonds to the small tumbler.
• Fasten the grinding blade to the tumbler and grind until powder.
• Add the almond powder and the remaining ingredients to the large tumbler and blend until smooth.
Low Fat “Mock-a-Mole”
This is the prefect low fat dip to serve during any family or friend gathering.
1 avocado, peeled, pitted and mashed
1 cup cooked green peas
¼ cup chopped fresh tomato
2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro plus more for garnish
1 tablespoon chopped red onion
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
2 teaspoons fresh lime juice
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon garlic salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
¾ teaspoon Tobasco sauce
Instructions:
• Combine all of the ingredients in a large blending cup.
• Add cross blending attachment and blend.
• Garnish with cilantro.
• Serve with tortilla chips, whole grain crackers, and raw vegetables.
Banana Date Smoothie
With bananas and plump medjool dates, this is one of the most delicious smoothie recipies.
1 ripe banana, cut up
½ cup yogurt
2 Medjool Dates, pitted
1 tablespoon wheat germ
5 ice cubes
Instructions:
• Add all the ingredients to the tall tumbler.
• Fasten the blending (cross) blade attachment to the tumbler and blend until smooth.
