Tree Decorating Idea

Like many families, our Christmas tree is filled with mementos from previous years. Every year, I have a porcelain photo ornament created with my daughter's picture and the date. It's fun to see Ava grow year by year. Since I have the photos printed on the porcelain, I never had a use for frame ornaments that allow you to stick a photo inside. When my daughter, Ava, was three, I was given a frame ornament as a gift. Since I already had her photo ornament made that year, I asked Ava to draw a picture for me.  We popped her artwork in the little frame and we hung it on the tree.

Each year since then, I’ve purchased a picture frame ornament and she has created a little painting or drawing for it.  There is something special about seeing her artistic ability progress through these small drawings each year.  When it comes time to decorate the tree, it is fun to pull out the ornaments from the previous years and talk about what she will come up with next. I’m starting to have quite a collection! Now that Ava's little sister, Claire, is here, we'll soon be creating two mini-masterpieces each year!
