Hey Q Check Girls...Shawn here. This is my first official entry to kick off the Q Check blog and I'm a little nervous. Blogging, IM-ing, uploading, downloading, overloading, dot com-ing...it's all a little scary to me. That said, I'm thrilled to have been asked to enter the esteemed world of "QVC blog-land". A few words of warning to you - I tangent tremendously, often lose my train of thought, sometimes try to use clever, big words to impress myself and you (...it never works), and even in print, I am annoyingly high energy (nice way of saying hyper). I also am a big believer in oversharing. It makes me feel close to you and i wouldnt have it any other way.


Happy belated Thanksgiving! I hope you had a blessed one, filled with tons of green bean casserole. Oh it's my favorite! Here's the play-by-play of my holiday -- we cooked for 6 hours, ate for 25 minutes, and cleaned up for over an hour. How does that happen? Interspersed in between were: an amazing salmon dip my sister in law made; a few meltdowns from my niece Sloane who is going through a phase. It's called, "Give me presents!"; and me, dummy me, with the turkey, I served a delicious Kansas City Steaks hickory ham (which I heated on the grill because the oven was busy with a bird!) and I proceeded to OVERheat it (I guess forgetting about it for over 2 hours didn't help!)...hello shoe leather. I do not belong in the kitchen. It's safer that way.


It is Black Friday as I write this - the official kickoff to the holiday shopping season. I have to say, since shopping on-air and online, in my opinion, SO beats road rage in the parking lots to get a spot and then lug bags through an overcrowded mall...I thought I'd share with you that I have a list of QVC favorites on dot-com (type into the search bar 'Shawn' Killinger gift picks') if you'd like to check them out. Can you believe we now sell Lucky Brand Jeans jewelry and watches?! Yup, very cool and that's on there, as are B.Makowsky bags (My sister in law just passed up a Prada to get one of Bruce's bags), Lamo shearling boots (they look just like Uggs but are so much less expensive...I wear them everywhere), the Houdini wine opener...a photo-to-oil portrait...oh gosh I could go on and on, and what I think is the greatest stocking stuffer - the BEST tanning cream ever from Clinique. It's acts like a body lotion, not a smelly, sticky tanning cream. I use it every morning post-shower to keep a healthy, sunny glow.


As for Q Check - I really hope you're enjoying it. I'm so excited to be a.) seeing you by the light of day, and b.) given the opportunity to host such a unique show with big personality and energy. I call it our "fun, fast-paced, girl's power hour". I hope you like the idea of tuning in everyday, same place and time, for a little ladies' lunch party chock full of humor (or an honest attempt at it) and tons of great deals on all sorts of female-centric must-haves or necessary evils. For example, I don't love cleaning but I relish the day we have the Monster floor steamer on. And the day we had the Fuller brush vacuum Today Special Value - heaven. I suddenly love to vaccuum. But I digress. We showcase clothing, jewelry, handbags, housewares, gadgets, and, thank goodness for Paul Ahr who makes even electronics understandable to me, the girl who is very "Un-tech savvy" but decidedly, "tech-willing".


Before I run, on December 12th I think we (QVC) are going to be bringing you a very cool, "Live from NYC's Bryant Park" show with my mentor and friend, Lisa Robertson, giving you her hands-down favorite holiday gift ideas. I'll be poking in every so often to interview fun guests and help you experience NYC during the holidays - ahh ice skaters and chestnuts and Santa oh my! I hope you'll tune in.
