Our Mini Vacation to Georgia -- Courtney Says I Do

When we received an invitation to Courtney and Aaron’s wedding we couldn’t contain our excitement.  Here was a chance to celebrate the union of two wonderful people in one of my favorite places, Georgia, and without the kids!  That’s right, we decided to leave the kids with their grandparents and spend some much needed quality time alone.  This mini-vacation was just what the doctor ordered and I couldn’t wait to get away.

Since this was going to be a quick trip I decided to make the most of it and splurge on a nice hotel.  Several years ago we stayed at the Mandarin Oriental in Washington D.C. and have been eager to stay in one again.  So I made the reservations and booked the flights and rental car and started counting down the days.  Our first night in Atlanta was a bust because by the time we arrived at the hotel it was late and we were tired. So we ordered room service and called it a night.

The next morning I was feeling motivated to workout.  Several months ago on Facebook I saw a video of a high energy spin class that incorporated R&B and hip-hop music.  I did some searching and learned the class was in Atlanta.  I said if I ever found myself in Atlanta I was going to take the class.  So that morning I dragged my hubby out of bed and we went.  We had a great time!  Although we spent most of the class hunched over our bikes trying to catch our breath we still enjoyed ourselves and burned off quite a few calories.

With a little extra pep in our steps we returned to the hotel and washed and dressed to head to Lenox Square Mall.  The mall was a mad house.  Apparently there was a big awards show taking place in Atlanta that evening and everyone decided to hang out that day at the mall.  We grabbed lunch, bought a few essentials and headed back to the room so I could have my make-up done by celebrity make-up artist Latasha Wright.

Her clientele includes several of the Atlanta “Housewives” and former members of Destiny’s Child.  She did an outstanding job and even had my husband complimenting how pretty and natural my make-up looked.  By then it was time to hit the road and head to the wedding.  The wedding was held in a lovely part of Georgia called Dahlonega.  It’s a picturesque mountain town in northern Georgia and it was the perfect backdrop for Courtney and Aaron’s wedding.

The wedding was beautiful.  Courtney looked amazing, her dress was stunning and her groom was the happiest man on the planet!  We really enjoyed the wedding and reception and felt so honored to be a part of their special day.

The next day we decided to head to Six Flags, an amusement park that I visited often as a kid when we lived in Georgia.  It was military appreciation day at the park so it was overly crowded which only gave us time to get on 4 rides.  That’s right FOUR rides.

But one of the rides called the Goliath now ranks in my top 3 favorite roller coasters of all time.  It was worth the 90 minute wait time and I hope I get the chance to ride it again!  While I was at the park I couldn’t help but think about my little Coco and Jace.  I brought back a pink Batgirl cape for Coco which she won’t take off!

All in all it was a great trip but at the end of the day I couldn’t wait to get back to my babies.  Next trip I’m bringing them with me!
