Leah’s Summer Beauty Tips

by on ‎07-01-2014 01:21 PM

Summer is my favorite time of year; sunshine, warm weather, vacation getaways. But summertime can also wreak havoc with our beauty routines; make-up melts, hair frizzes, and skin is parched and dry. Here are a few of my favorite beauty tips that get me through the warm weather season -- no sweat!

#1 - Wear A Hat

It’s important to wear sunscreen, but another great way to protect yourself in the sun is to wear a hat. Think of a hat in summer the same way you would gloves in winter -- it’s a smart accessory. Besides shielding your face from the sun’s harmful rays, a hat also protects your hair from the sun’s damage. Summer hats aren’t just for the garden or beach. With all the fun styles from baseball caps to woven wide brims, grab a hat whenever you plan to be out in the summer sun.

#2 - Discovery Kits Make Great Travel Products

I used to gloss right over the “discovery collections” and “trial size kits” of my favorite brands. I figured, if I liked a product, I wanted it in the big full size. But the smaller sizes offered in many kits and collections are perfect for travel. The small bottles fit easily into a toiletry case or cosmetic bag, and most can be refilled from the full size products that I use at home. Summer vacation is also a great time to try a new product line when it’s offered and sized right for sampling.

#3 - Pop With Polish

A bright nail polish is the perfect way to highlight your summer look! Neon shades, candy colors, fruit hues, and pigmented pastels. The rainbow of colors offered in summer is vast. And because our toes are exposed in all those sandals we’re wearing, summer nail color is front and center in more ways than one.

#4 - Body Bronze Leg Veins Away

Pale skin isn’t the only concern that body bronzers address. Veins show up on my brown legs too. So when I’m wearing shorts, skirts and dresses in summer, I dust a little bronzer over the veins and they’re history. The great thing about body bronzer is that you add the color where you want it, when you want it.

#5 - Make Under

When the temperature soars, the risk of make-up meltdown is high. So why not skip the heavy foundation and layers of color altogether? A good tinted moisturizer with SPF and lip gloss is all you need for a casual look that is natural and so easy. If you want to lighten things up for summer, paring down your make-up routine is a great way to go.
