My Vacation -- Lots of Photos

I go there at least once a year to hit my "reset" button. To bond with my daughter, stretch my legs and wake up my soul.

It's Ouray, Colorado. A teeny tiny town in the heart of old mining country, rich in history and overflowing with breathtaking views. My parents introduced me to it during one of our annual camping trips in my younger days. I went kicking and screaming back then! But now, I get it. I understand why they took my brother and I far from tv's and telephones. And I'm hoping to give that same peace and back-to-basics adventure to my daughter.

This time my dad joined us too! We took a jeep tour up to 13,000 feet to Imogen Pass. When we got there, I walked out, spread my arms wide and gave the world one big virtual hug. Everyday I feel overwhelmed with gratitude for all there is to enjoy in life. And in that moment, I tried to return it at what felt like the top of the world.

We shared cookies and belly-laughs at the local bakery, went horseback riding, explored abandoned mines, splashed in waterfalls. Gabby chose a geode and a local rock enthusiast cracked it open for us to spy the quartz formations inside!  It was only a few days, but it felt like months of rest, relaxation and most importantly: focusing on what is most important. The love of my family and of this beautiful planet.

When it was time to return I was pleasantly surprised to discover I couldn't wait to get back! I missed the Q and my family there too.  I've said it before after my first vacay and I'll say it again. You know you love your job when you are as eager to return as you were to embark. Or as Confucius said:

"Choose a job you love and you will never work a day in your life."

Couldn't have said it better!

Where's your happy place?? Please share with me by commenting below. I've posted a few pics from my dream vacay here, and you can see more on my Facebook page! And I'll see you Friday at 4am for Destination Gemstones...I'll bring the geode Gabby cracked open and we can spy some CO drusy together!
