Wishing everyone a happy and healthy New Year!

I'm not sure if you have heard the news- Dr. Gross will have a busy day at the Q this Friday.  We have a great kit for the New Year as well as two one-hour shows.

Dennis was resting up with our family in Mexico over the holidays, preparing for the special appearance this week. While he was diligent with his SPF, he looks a little tan to me.

Check out our selfie, what do you think?

Gross Family

During our vacation, one of our family discussions over dinner was about the new addition of the word “selfie” in the dictionary.

Dennis and I thought, what is the world coming to? The kids loved the idea. Who would have guessed that silly, new word for taking a picture of yourself would now be an official dictionary word?

The kids and I may not agree on Webster’s addition, but we do believe in family traditions. One involves sending Dennis off to QVC with a good-luck, banana-bread basket baked with lots of love by myself and the girls [find the recipe below!]. Yum!

I also whipped up his favorite soup and a few stuffed peppers with quinoa and black beans. Did you know Dennis is a pescatarian?  So now he’s fully rested and full of delicious food for his QVC show.

Don't miss Dennis at midnight this Friday, 01/09. Tune in to see him, and tell him if you think he is setting a good example with his SPF! Dennis and I use Ferulic Acid + Retinol Brightening Solution and our Alpha Beta Peels to soothe our skin after sun and surf.

Warm wishes for the New Year,

Carrie Gross

Carrie’s Classic Banana Bread

Makes one 8 1/2 x 4 1/2-inch loaf (about 8 servings)

Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease an 8½ × 4½-inch loaf pan.

Whisk together:

  • 1 1/3 cups organic flour

  • 1/4 teaspoons baking powder

  • 3/4 teaspoon Himalayan salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda

Beat in a large bowl at medium speed until creamy:

  • 2/3 cup raw sugar

  • 6 tablespoons (3/4 stick) unsalted butter, softened

Beat the above into the flour mixture, then gradually add:

  • 2 large eggs, beaten

Now… add your Bananas! Fold in just until combined: 1 cup mashed VERY ripe bananas.

Here is where I alter the recipe and add DOUBLE the amount of bananas! I use at least 2 cups.

Many people also love to add coarsely chopped walnuts or pecans - I don’t do this before Dennis goes to QVC because nuts can cause him to cough which is NOT good, especially on a TSV Day!

Cool completely before slicing (if you can wait!). I like to slice when warm. Sometimes we even melt butter on a warm toasted slice. Delish!

ENJOY!!!
