tips from jillian: how to wear summer color

happy summer, philosophy girls! i’m excited to announce that we are ready to show off our new divine summer color collection, which features brilliant, yet sophisticated and wearable splashes of color launching exclusively on QVC august 4. our latest collection consists of three new summer splash lip color duos in guava melon, raspberry passion, and red berry; and we are also showing two new long-wear creamy eye color trios in warm and cool. my favorite is the periwinkle eye color from the cool collection — it’s a unique color that’s sure to be a philosophy girl favorite!

i know that incorporating new colors can seem a bit daunting, but don’t be afraid to be adventurous, especially when our summer colors are formulated to provide full, yet wearable washes of color that any woman of any age and any skin tone can enjoy. plus, you can also try these simple tricks to help make the most of this season’s hottest look:

  • create the perfect canvas: always start by moisturizing skin first. this gives you an even canvas before putting on your foundation. then use a tinted moisturizer (like our best-selling hope tinted moisturizer) or just enough foundation (such as our divine cream-to-satin foundation) to blend out the skin. finish with a very light dusting of powder to set, and don’t forget your sunblock.

  • allover color done right: when wearing color all over, be sure to balance between lips, cheeks, and eyes. the overuse of color can take you from “chic” to “eek!” in seconds. try soft, wearable pops of color to achieve the most sophisticated look, like sweeping lavender long-wear cream eye color over the entire eyelid. follow with eyeliner along the upper lash line, a few sweeps of mascara, and raspberry passion lip gloss or the raspberry passion lip color.

  • fabulous focal points: if you don’t want allover color, create a more focused look by choosing one area you are most confident with — like your lips, cheeks or eyes. so, if you love your lips, apply one of the new lip duos, using both lip color and gloss to achieve the most colorful and bold effect. then, apply a simple sweep of color to eyes.

  • get glowing: finish your look by warming up the skin with divine blushing bronzer in your shade. apply all over the face, popping an extra amount where your skin is naturally kissed by the sun, like on the apples of the cheeks and across your forehead.
