Phillip Phillips Is Coming To the Q!!

by on ‎11-01-2013 03:19 PM

I discovered and got hooked on American Idol, several years after the show began. I only started watching after hearing the constant excitement and chatter about it from my coworkers in the break room, the cafeteria, the hallways ……. just about everywhere throughout QVC. After all, I didn't want to be the only one not in the loop. And, I was definitely glad I tuned in; I fell in love with the show and had lots of fun on break talking about it with my coworkers! But still, something was missing for me!

Nobody at home wanted to watch with me and I longed for a little American Idol companionship. So, I turned to Facebook and as it turned out, the majority of my “friends” were also watching and posting. Naturally, I started to post and comment, too!

It got to be a constant and soon a faithful and crazed, I mean, dedicated group of us “met” every week on Facebook to “talk” about the show. It was so much fun and something we really looked forward to every Tuesday and Wednesday nights.
We began making friendly bets about who would be sent home, what color so and so would wear …. we even tried to predict who would sing what. It was a blast, and because we were having so much fun, I decided to bring the on-line fun to life. I hosted an American Idol finale party at my home!

I invited my closest friends from high school and here we are. (3 from West Chester East High School’s graduating Class of 85’ and 3 from the Class of 86’. I'm sorry about the red eyes and blurred picture. I just purchased a new phone and was obviously not up to speed back then.)

Top row (standing) from left to right: Sheri (86'), Erika (85'), Linda (86')

Bottom row (sitting) from left to right: Melanie (85') with her granddaughter, Kyleigh, Karla (86'), Helen (85')

And everyone brought a dish to share!

We had more food than we knew what to do with, but it made for terrific leftovers.

Phillip Phillips and Jessica Sanchez were the final two contestants that year and the votes in my house were evenly split, which made it even more fun!! I was in camp Phillip and you should have heard the three of us scream like tweens when they announced him as the winner!  It was more than just about the singing with Phillip, even though that, of course, was number one!

There was something so endearing and charming about him. He was just so …….. so Phillip! He was so genuine, humble, honest AND real!!!

I remember when Tommy Hilfiger came in to give Phillip a new look and his attitude was basically, nah, I’m good! He liked his jeans and tees and that’s just who he is! He didn't seem to have a pretentious bone in his body and I guess he just didn't feel the need to change just because he was then among the Top 10. This made us love him even more! Pure honesty  ….. ahhhh!

I was so excited to learn Phillip will be a guest on Anything Goes on Tuesday November 5th at 10pm. His moving voice and music will fill the studio and I hope to ‘see’ all of you there. Whether you’re a current fan or you're just learning his name for the very, first time today, I am confident Phillip Phillips will give a riveting performance, plus he’s pretty handsome, too! And, I'm allowed to say that, as my daughters and Phillip are about the same age.

And here's another interesting and exciting fact you might not know ..... Phillip is up for Best New Artist of the Year?! WOW ..... and he just turned 23!!! Impressive!!

Rick and Shawn "met" Phillip via Skype last week during Anything Goes. Did you happen to see the segment? I have no idea what Rick is doing in this picture, but it IS typical Rick! I love ya, buddy!

Sincerely

Erika

P.S. QVC will be Tweeting Live during Phillip's show on Tuesday, November 5th from 10pm to 12am, so make sure to log in and tweet away!
