So you know which one you want.

Random beauty musings are commonplace in this office. But we decided to put our own expertise to the test when the whole team tried out a set of philosophy fragrances. Below, more musings, feelings, likes and dislikes from our office of discerning ladies.

Alexa, our designer who makes each page of our magazine look pretty, tested out amazing grace.

Initial thoughts: “It reminds me of walking into a beautiful home décor store, one that has an immediate, pretty scent. It smells clean and linen-like a fresh bedroom. Maybe it has gardenia in it, I normally gravitate towards gardenia scents for sure. Gardenias are my favorite smell because when I was little we had a gardenia plant when we lived in Hawaii.”

When to wear it: “I think this is an everyday wear, definitely perfect in the summertime going out to brunch or a tea. Since it’s airy and light, I’d wear it somewhere you might be outside.”

Lasting power: “It seems to wear off pretty quickly. It’s a light scent to begin with so maybe that’s why?”

If this scent had a color, it would be: “Light blue, like a clear sky.”

Who will love it: “A woman that likes good quality and is worldly, big on textures and in tune with her senses.  Basically, an easy-going, whimsical lady would like this scent.”

Naina, who seamlessly brings together all the merchandise and concepts for Q In, tried living grace.

Initial thoughts: “It’s an ideal daytime fragrance—very fresh, very crisp, very light. It has a hint of floral, but it’s more of an outdoorsy smell.”

When to wear it: “If I were going out with girlfriends I would wear this… So clean and nice!”

Lasting power: “A lot of perfumes don’t stay on me, this one lasted a few hours, but that’s just me.”

If this scent was a destination, it would be: “An open countryside in New Zealand with rolling green hills near the sea.”

Who will love it: “It’s not a complicated fragrance, it’s for people who like a specific smell, and will be happy with it every day… Very girl-next-door, someone straightforward.”

Claudia takes all our beautiful pictures appearing in Q In, and she tried baby grace.

Initial thoughts:  “It’s nice, not too strong, powdery scented. It’s so clean, it smells like soap—but in a good way!”

When to wear it: “I would wear it every day. It’s a low key scent so you could pretty much wear it anywhere.”

Lasting power: “I don’t like strong fragrances that are too flowery or too musky or too sweet smelling, this one is maybe a little sweet smelling, but not too strong. Light and fresh! It lasts but becomes subdued over time.”

If this scent had a color, it would be: “The light blue of the packaging is well matched because that’s the perfect color to describe what I’m smelling.”

Who will love it: “A casual woman would like this scent. It’s nice for an office setting so you smell fresh and clean but it’s not overpowering, smells kind of like spring. It’s not bold, it’s maybe a little young.”

Alix, our resident health and home expert who is also our marketing whiz, tested  loveswept.

Initial thoughts: “Fruity in a very light way, a happy, nice way. I’m pretty loyal to other perfumes which are also fruit-based and really distinct, but this one is very straight-up fruity and light. I wouldn’t get addicted to this but I would definitely wear it.”

When to wear it: “On a spring day shopping on Saturday afternoon, running errands. I’d wear it at night during spring and summer because it has the light warm-weather vibe.”

Lasting power: “It’s not very intense, it faded appropriately.”

If this scent was a destination, it would be: “West Hampton: beautiful but not tropical, classy but not pretentious, pretty low key but still a treat.”

Who will love it: “Someone girly but simple. I picture her wearing a plain white tank and a floral skirt. There’s a bit of a boho vibe, very natural, and happy.”

Carly writes all the snappy words you read in our digital magazine, and tried on pure grace.

Initial thoughts:  “There is a stark freshness when I first smell it. But it becomes deeper. Maybe some cedar notes and hints of lemon.”

When to wear it: “You could wear this anytime. It makes me think of a cozy Sunday though…at a café or going to the park in good weather.”

Lasting power: “It comes on strong at first but definitely gets tamed after a few hours. I could still smell it much later in the day when I held my wrist to my nose!”

If this scent had a color, it would be: “True to the packaging, this scent is a bright white. Fine, it could maybe pass as a mint green if we want to shake it up a bit.”

Who will love it: “This fragrance is sophisticated yet fresh. A confident woman who likes streamlined scents will enjoy pure grace.”

Finally, it was my turn! I put on love sweet love.

Initial thoughts: “It’s so feminine but also sexy. It really captures romance.

When to wear it: “It’s a total date night fragrance. Wear it at night, not at the office or in a meeting. It’s more a fragrance for a date with your husband or significant other, somewhere quaint in a steamy outfit.

Lasting power: “This is an all year long fragrance, no problem. It’s heavy enough to stand out in winter but soft enough for summer. It fades through the day but I can still smell it! Just reapply as needed.”

If this scent was a destination, it would be:  “Somewhere exotic and paradise-y like Bali.”

Who will love it: “A woman who wants to feel special and isn’t afraid of a little oomph factor. It makes you feel irresistible.”
