A Look Back At Sandra's Weekend Polish Picks of 2013

by on ‎12-30-2013 03:56 PM

Before you start “polishing” up your act for the New Year, let’s take a look back on some of my Polish Picks of 2013!

Starting with my trip to China…

1/4/13: I Thought I would wear red, a color that is considered lucky in China. This is part of the Perfect Reds collection by Sephora By OPI.

1/11/13: I know my manicure doesn't look great – I was very busy working in Beijing, but I took some time during my lunch to share this polish with you! It is Spending Spree by Ciate. It's hard to tell from the picture, but it has a chrome-like finish and is very resistant to chipping.

1/18/13: This was from my last day in Beijing—I had such a great time! That week I wore Delaunay by Julep. It was created with fashion designer Trina Turk. It goes on so easy and you can get away with one coat.

1/25/13: I posted this one in the salon getting ready for one my beauty shows. I was wearing "Jermyn Street" from the Nails Inc. Must Haves 4-piece Nail Polish Collection. Love the quality of the polish and you must too because it’s Customer Top Rated.

2/9/13:  This is Sephora By OPI called Metro Too Chic. All of the colors rock! I especially love the second polish from the right. I'm wearing it in the bottom pic, but because it is an iridescent shade, I had a hard time getting a good shot. It is so much prettier in person. I did the glitter shade on my index fingers.

2/15/13: This week was your polish pick! So many people asked me about this shade, making it an easy choice! This is Porchester Square by nails inc london. It is the most popular shade in the line. I like it because it is subtle but the grey/mauve color makes it right on trend. (You can see I am multitasking and doing my nails in the QVC salon right before a show. Don't tell!)

2/22/13: Just when I thought I had tried every shade, I'm tested out chocolate for the first time! This is part of the Contemporary Neutrals by Julep. The colors were taken from Spring 2013 New York Fashion Week runways. The rest of collection contains beautiful and basic soft pinks and beige. I picked the shade that felt the most unique.

3/1/13: I decided to wear a spring color on my nails. Wishful thinking - it still felt like winter! This is from Julep's Best Selling Pinks & Reds Collection. My daughters said it looked like "Barbie". Considering the source, I took it as a compliment.

3/8/13:  It's Lips and Tips from Butter... My first time coordinating my lip gloss and polish. The gloss feels good and the color lasts most of the day. This shade is Queen Vic. I enjoyed this pick!

3/15/13: This week I wore Mally 24/7 Gel Polish in Caribbean Sea with Bubbly silver sparkle on top. PS- I did a lot of cleaning and as you can see, my nails took a beating - should have worn gloves!

3/21/13:  This week I was in the mood for some of my favorite shades from Nails Inc. I'm wearing Porchester Square (bottom left) right now.

3/28/13: This week I chose something from Nails Inc. I love the colors, consistency and coverage of this brand. I do my own nails and I don't always have the steadiest hand, but I'm always happy with the results when I use this polish.

4/5/13: This is my new favorite subtle, "Your Nails But Better" shade. It's Mally Beauty 24/7 Gel Nail Polish in Madison Avenue. This photo is on day six!! No chips and still super shiny! My cuticles need a touch-up, but the polish is still perfect.

4/26/13: I love this set! It is the butter LONDON Set of 3 Summer Vacation Collection. The pink is called Tea with A Queen. The gold is Bobby Dazzler and the turquoise with rose gold is Two Fingered Salute. I did Tea with A Queen on my toes (I know, that sounds really odd!)

5/3/13: This week, I picked Trout Pout by Butter London because it is the perfect mix of coral and pink... Very spring

5/10/13: "Are you kidding me?" was my reaction when I heard about the new Scentsational Six collection by Sephora By OPI. These colors all SMELL delicious when the polish dries. Scents include Mango, Citrus, & Cherry. The colors go on sheer but have beautiful shimmer. Unless you are a "fragrance free" girl, these are fun & different. My daughters loved them!

5/17/13: Joan Rivers brought back her polish! I missed the coverage and quality of her formula. Her new Colors of the Seasons collection comes with 5 shades, optional nail art templates, and studs. Check out my finger in the bottom box - it was easy!

5/24/13:  We were headed to the shore for Memorial Day and I didn’t want to worry about chipping. That's why I wore Mally's Gel Nail Polish. This is Dancing Queen, a soft lavender/pink sparkle. I was very happy that I didn’t need any touch-ups the entire week!

5/31/13: Congrats to Julep for winning the coveted 2013 CEW Indie Beauty Award - in the beauty biz, this is like winning an Oscar! I love the coverage and variety of colors from Julep. The purple I'm wearing in this picture is Charlotte  and I have the Freedom Top Coat on top to make my nails super shiny.

6/7/13: Happy 80th Birthday, Joan Rivers!! To honor Joan, I wore the Rose Gold shade from her Colors of the Season collection.

7/12/13: It was gray and rainy outside, so I went with something bright and happy. This is "Fruit Machine" by Butter London

7/19/13: I went with pale pink sparkle for the CEW Beauty Awards Show. It's Audrey from Julep. For extra shine, I wore Julep's Freedom Top Coat, which won a CEW award.

7/26/13: This week I tested two big trends... neon and texture. My 10 yr old daughter helped me with this!

8/2/13: I had a blast playing with the new set from Nails Inc. This set contains all of the deeper colors that were very popular in the fall!

8/9/13:  I went crazy over the new Caviar Polish from Ciate. Paint your nails, pour on the mini beads.. done! And unlike glitter, it comes off easily with regular polish remover.

8/16/13: Check out Ciate's Colourfoil Manicure! It requires an extra step to put on the foil finish, but it's worth it to get this unique finish. "Statement nails" were a big trend this fall.

9/6/13: I love the Best of British set of 10 polishes from Nails Inc. In this pic I'm wearing Porchester Square, but since it's been my pick twice before, I decided to create a new look with a metallic navy tip.

9/13/13: Julep was celebrating the 75th anniversary of The Wizard Of Oz with glitter Ruby Slippers, holographic Tin Man, frost Glinda The Good Witch, and creme Emerald City (finally, a green I love!)

9/20/13: This week I tried out one of the nail trends we saw at Fashion Week - Metallics! This is Glametal by Ciate.

9/28/13: Navy was another big trend of the fall. My manicure wasn’t perfect, but I still wanted to show you this color. It's Char by Julep. I've read navy is easier to wear than other dark shades because it flatters most skin tones.

10/11/13: I had a lot going on this weekend so I didn't want to deal with a chipped manicure. The solution - Mally Beauty's Gel Polish. I like this golden olive called "Olive You Too" for fall. Have you tried Mally's gel system?

10/18/13: One of the big fall styles was matte textures. I still love shine, but it's fun to play with a new look. This is Julep's brand new Fall Suedes collection.

10/25/13: I was doing some housework wearing my Orthaheels and I looked down and realized I was wearing one of my fav colors. This is Lena by Julep!  It's about to be covered by shoes, but at least I know it is there!

11/1/13:  I loved Ciate's unique spin, the Advent calendar. It contains little surprises for each day, including 18 polishes and various embellishments allowing you to create over a 100 looks! Great gift idea!

11/8/13: This week I wore two colors from one of my fav sets, Best of British by Nails Inc. I went for the gray with the holographic top coat as an accent nail

11/15/13: After weeks of "trend" colors, I was looking for pretty neutrals.  This week I wore Nails Inc. Best of British Collection again, which gave me both the hot colors and the classics!

11/22/13:  I broke three nails this week, so excuse how extremely short I had to go. Still, I wanted you to see the new Black Tie collection by julep. It features a dark plum, a holographic black, and a French white. You can create a lot of cool looks with this!

11/30/13: As if I didn't love the Ciate polish enough, now it comes in a tree trinket set making for cute gift ideas and fun ornaments! Check out how I gave my nails and my tree a little glam!

12/6/13: I really like this new caddy from Julep. Finally a good place to store all of my favorite polishes and nail tools! Sure beats the messy plastic bin I was using! It would make a cute gift too.

12/13/13: Cabaret by Ciate! I was headed to a holiday party and wanted something festive without sparkle. Love how easy Ciate is to apply.

12/20/13: I let my 4yr-old daughter choose my shade this weekend. No surprise... she immediately grabbed Niecy, a bright pink color from Julep. I like her style!

12/27/13: All of the holiday cooking and cleaning trashed my nails! I decided to give them a break by wearing Julep's Oxygen Nail treatment. I like it because it provides a natural color, making them look good until they are back in shape.

I hope you enjoyed my Polish Pick recap! I'm looking forward to a wonderful 2014 with plenty of new nail trends to share with you!
