Hello my LCNY fashionistas,

The wedding was fantastic, a memory maker.  I must say, however, the let down afterward had me a bit tearful.  My baby is married and now has her own family as it is suppose to be. When she left Saturday afternoon on her shortened honeymoon with her husband, I held on tight and smelled her hair and kissed her face too many times.  She said 'thank you mommy for everything'.....no more words were needed. 

I wanted to share my father of the bride speech with you.  We have traveled these past four years together, and by now you know that I find strength and friendship in your support.  This was the rough draft, I veered off a bit and only got choked up with the last statement. ILYYKW means 'I love you you know who', now you know a Davies secret.  MBR and yours truly are excited about Wednesday morning, please join us and bring an extra donut for me as I can now eat again

To Meghan and Matt........

WELCOME TO OUR BEAUTIFUL HOME FOR THE NEXT FIVE HOURS. When we were wedding shopping, the three of us, Meghan and Matt walked in here and it was a done deal.  Meghan wanted an English garden castle like wedding....he is a history buff....need I say more! This day is perfect except for the obvious.  Larry is greatly missed. To tell you that we have had signs from him all week is an understatement.....his presence is greatly felt.  Please raise your glass in a toast to Meghan's Dad, Matt's father in-law and our guy.  TO LARRY!!!!!!!

It is an honor bestowed upon me to give the father of the bride speech.  As you know, he was a master speech writer therefore I have big shoes to fill.  The title is JUST BECAUSE!

I look out into this room and I see so many friendly faces and if I add up the years that everyone had been married, WOW there is a lot of experience in this room.  I know that we would all attest to the fact that when everything is great...as a couple you are unstoppable...invincible...but everything is not always perfect.  That my friends, is the test of a good marriage, how you manage to ride the wave together. 

When our children were younger we had a secret password.  It was salt and pepper.  It was meant for a variety of things.  I need you to pick me up Mom, I am uncomfortable in this situation. They were not to go with a stranger unless the stranger knew the password, so on and so on.  The password meant safety...love...I am always here for you....Larry and I had one it was ILYYKW.......It was an understanding between the two of us to stop, listen and be present.  It was there when needed and it was used MANY A TIME.  Meghan and Matt I give to you your secret password JUST BECAUSE.

When you get in to bed each night hold hands for a few minutes...JUST BECAUSE.

Order take out or have a pbj sandwich for dinner after a rough day JUST BECAUSE....

Play hooky from work, stay in and catch up on your favorite TV series JUST BECAUSE...

Matt surprise Meghan with flowers JUST BECAUSE..

Say I love you all of the time JUST BECAUSE...

JUST BECAUSE will become that unspoken language between the two of you.  I love you, I need you, you are my peace...you ground me........JUST BECAUSE

My wish for the two of you is a marriage that is understanding, loving, supportive, nurturing and grows stronger and better as the years unfold.  To my darling daughter...the love of my love now married to the love of her life...TO MR AND MRS MATTHEW HARMON .....ILYYKW!!!!!!!!
