31 Days of Organization Continues!

Hi, everyone!

“31 Days of Organization” continues! I posted seven new tips in the last week on Facebook and QVC's toGather and wanted to be sure you saw them!

Cheesy Chicken & Bacon Ziti

It’s Saturday afternoon and you’ve got two hours of free time. Why not make dinner for the week? Last Wednesday I posted a Cheesy Chicken & Bacon Ziti recipe in my blog that you can bake ahead and refrigerate or freeze for later. My team also got that up on my You’re Home with Jill recipe page. I’ve got quite a few freezer-friendly recipes there…Always Good Lasagna, Chicken and Broccoli Casserole, Slow-Cooker Three-Bean Chili. Go exploring. And start freezing for later!

Organize with a lazy Susan

Okay, I totally saw this on Pinterest…but how clever! You know that corner cabinet that’s an abyss? Maybe it takes hours to find the spice you need in your cabinet? Forget taking everything out one by one. You can see everything with a lazy Susan. Picture this on your table, too…it’s taco night, you’ve got 10 toppings on the table, everyone can reach what they need. Genius.

Fridge Organization

I recently read an article on “the proper way to organize your fridge” in one of those home magazines. I read it, gathered my favorite tidbits of info, and then did my own thing. Here’s what my fridge looks like at home. I used Lock & Lock and the Genius refrigerator/freezer deodorizer:

Lock & Lock in the cabinet

Who said Lock & Lock is just for food storage? I use these containers everywhere in my home…including the kitchen. You could even store my spices in Lock & Lock containers in a cabinet, so they're easy to grab and stay nice fresh. Now, if you’re crazy like me, you can label every one of these containers. Picture it: you know exactly what's inside—and so will everyone in the house.

Kitchen Rack After

I like to organize my pantry and storage areas by how much things weigh…really heavy stuff goes on the bottom, the lightest things go on the top. If you would happen to drop that beautiful platter (god forbid), better on the floor than your head.

Natural Cleaner

Store-bought cleaners can be expensive and full of harmful ingredients…I like knowing exactly what I'm using around my family, which is why I keep a bottle of equal parts vinegar and water--with a spritz of lemon under every sink. (You'll also find a microfiber towel or sponge there, too.) Baking soda works extremely well and can give a vinegar/water/lemon spray a boost of power for tough jobs.

Foyer Before...

Foyer After...

If you think about all the things you and your family needs when they leave the house, there’s no way a teeny shelf and boot tray will cut it. But, if you think big with a roomy organizer, you’ll have space for your purse, winter accessories, the dog leash and poop bags, umbrellas, hats, shall I go on???

If you’re not following me on QVC's toGather or Facebook, then you’ll have to wait a whole week for more organization tips. That’s like waiting for a new Downton Abbey!!! Okay, maybe not QUITE as exciting…  Anyway, see you soon.
