Tasty Tacos

by on ‎09-03-2014 02:55 PM

Our family eats tacos about once a week.  About a month ago I went to the grocery store to buy everything we needed for the tacos and when I got home I realized I did not get a seasoning packet.  There was no way I was going back to the store so I improvised.  Since then I like my homemade taco seasoning better.  It has a fresher taste and I can control the amount of salt in the dish.  We alternate between soft & hard taco shells.  Sometimes I just pile it on nachos.

I hope you like it.  Feel free to share your tasty taco tipsSmiley Happy

4 pounds ground turkey or beef (I used turkey)
1 small onion chopped
1 can Rotel diced tomatoes & green chilies
Handful of fresh chopped cilantro
2 cloves chopped fresh garlic
2 Tb. Chili powder - or more if you like a kick
2 Tb Ground Cumin
1 tsp seasoned salt
pepper to taste
Olive oil
Chopped lettuce (I used spinach & arugula)
Fresh salsa
Shredded Cheese
Sour cream

Directions:
Sauté onions & garlic in olive oil.  Add meat, cook until the meat is no longer pink.  Add seasoned salt, pepper, chili powder, cumin,  Rotel & cilantro.  Cook until hot & bubbly.  Create your tacos.  Serve with black beans, rice & guacamole.
