Mary Beth's Menu - Toffee Bars

Toffee Bars



  • 1 cup butter

  • 1 cup packed brown sugar

  • 1 egg yolk

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 10 oz. Hershey bar OR 10-12 oz. bag of Hershey's chocolate chips

  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)


Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Melt butter in a saucepan. Stir in brown sugar and egg yolk. Remove from heat and immediately stir in flour.

Spoon mixture into a 9" x 13" greased pan. Bake for 20 minutes.

Remove from oven and place chocolate pieces on top. Spread evenly as chocolate melts. 

Sprinkle with nuts and let cool.

Cut into bars or bite-size pieces and dig into the chocolate goodness.
