Mary Beth's Menu - Almost Lasagna

 Almost Lasagna



    • 1 pound ground beef

 

    • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

 

    • 1/2 teaspoon salt

 

    • dash of pepper

 

    • 24 oz. tomato sauce 

 

    • 12 oz. egg noodles

 

    • 8 oz. sour cream

 

    • 8 oz. cottage cheese

 

    • 8 oz. whipped cream cheese 

 

    • 3-5 green onion (shallots), chopped



Pre heat oven to 350 degrees.

 

Brown ground beef with garlic, salt and pepper. Drain fat. Add sauce and simmer with lid on.

 

Cook noodles as directed on package. Drain and return to pan adding two tablespoons of butter. Stir until butter is melted. Remove from heat.

 

In a bowl mix the cottage cheese, sour cream and cream cheese until well blended. Stir in green onions.

 

In a casserole pan, spoon in 1/3 of sauce covering bottom of pan, top with half of the noodles and spoon in cheese mixture. Repeat with layer of sauce, noodles and cheese and top with sauce.

 

Bake uncovered for 45 minutes. 

 

Serve with a salad and garlic bread. Enjoy!

 

Once you get the basic recipe down, experiment with different cheeses, adding sausage, vegetables, etc. Make it your own. That's the fun part about cooking.
