Getting Ready for the Holiday Season...

by on ‎11-18-2013 07:12 PM

As the trees lose their leaves and the weather starts to chill, I like to cozy up in the kitchen and savor the calm before the holiday craziness.

Last week I enjoyed a rare afternoon home and whipped up a wonderful creation I wanted to share with you.  It really warmed me up and got me in the mood for the season ahead.

Easy Baked Apples

Core 6 apples and put them into baking dish.

In a small sauce pot combine the following.

1/2 cup honey

1/4 cup maple syrup

1/2 dried cranberries

1/4 yellow raisins

1/2 chopped walnuts

Stir on low heat for 5 min to mix all ingredients and liquefy the honey a bit.

Put a full cinnamon stick in the cored center of each apple then fill the hole with the mixture.

Place the filled apples in the oven at 250 degrees for 15-20 minutes until the apples soften.

Serve in something fun like a thick walled martini glass or a footed bowl.

Maybe even add a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream.

This is also the time of year when my thoughts turn to the special people on my gift list for the holidays.

This year many of my favorite gadgets are included in bow and go gift sets that really are an easy way to share some of the best gadgets we offer on QVCwith the special people on your gift lists.

Here are just a few of the sets being offered with gift boxes.

K39546 Kuhn Rikon Set/4 Ultimate Kitchen & Multi Use Shears with Gift Boxes

K39715 Kuhn Rikon Set/3 Polka Dot Can Openers with Gift Boxes

K39664 Kuhn Rikon Set/4 3.5oz Glass Ceramic Grinders with Gift Boxes

You can keep one for yourself and give the rest away or keep them all.

I admit it, sometimes I'm tempted to keep them all for myself.

I look forward to seeing you all this Holiday Season and sharing these and other great gift ideas with you.

I hope you enjoy the Easy Baked Apples recipe!!
