What Are You Most Looking Forward to This Holiday Season?

Hello, foodies…

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas…at least at QVC. See?

Santa David!

This weekend is our annual Christmas in July Sale and I'm thrilled for you to join me for In the Kitchen with David this Sunday. We've got tons of great gift and entertaining ideas…many of which are NEW! And, you'll certainly want to tune in for my recipe…Frozen Peanut Butter Hot Chocolate!

Frozen Peanut Butter Hot Chocolate

Frozen Peanut Butter Hot Chocolate

Ingredients:

3 oz dark chocolate (70% cacao), chopped

3 oz peanut butter cups, chopped

2 Tbsp creamy peanut butter

1 Tbsp sugar

1-1/2 cups milk, divided

1 Tbsp good quality hot chocolate mix

2-1/2 cups ice

Whipped cream (for garnishing)

Chocolate sauce (for garnishing)

Peanut butter cups, chopped (for garnishing)

Directions:

Mix the dark chocolate, peanut butter cups, sugar, and 1/2 cup of milk in a microwave-safe bowl and cook in 20-second intervals, stirring occasionally until melted and evenly incorporated. Add the hot chocolate mix and stir until thoroughly blended. Place the mixture in the refrigerator and allow it to cool.

Place the remaining cup of milk, the cooled chocolate mixture, and the ice into a blender and mix until completely smooth. Pour the beverage into milkshake glasses, and top each with whipped cream, more peanut butter cups, and a drizzle of chocolate sauce. Serve.

I love this recipe because Christmas just isn't Christmas without hot chocolate, but who wants to drink it when you can fry eggs on the pavement outside?! When you make this recipe, I suggest finding the darkest dark chocolate you can buyat least 70% cocoa as suggested. (Most chocolate manufacturers will have that percentage right on the label.) Even if you're not a fan of dark chocolate, it's the most important ingredient to use, because the richer the chocolate, the more chocolate flavor your drink (and all recipes, for that matter) will have. Plus, in my recipe, you're mixing this chocolate with peanut butter cups, hot chocolate mix, and chocolate sauce, which are certainly much sweeter.

Speaking of recipes, Christmas, and great gift ideas, Sunday's "Cookbook Corner" selection is another fantastic recipe from Southern Living…Christmas In The Kitchen (F09837). There are over 200 recipes in this book from Sweet Mustard-Baked Ham to Frozen Peppermint Cheesecake. And, here are two more delicious examples…just to get the ideas flowing!

Holiday Punch

Okay, foodies, blog question time! What are you most looking forward to about the upcoming Christmas and holiday season? The food? Things like cookies, pies, and breads? Is it the decorations? Or, perhaps it's just the spirit of the season. Write as many things as you like…I know I can't answer that question in just one word! I'll see you on Sunday at Noon ET…get ready for sparkling lights, jingling bells, and of course…delicious food!

Keep it flavorful!
