One Big Slide Down Memory Lane

If you’ve ever had the chance to spend time in the glorious mountain scenery of Colorado or Utah, you’ll be able to relate to the joy I feel today as I plan an upcoming adventure!

While I always enjoy sharing time with all of you via the QVC Studio here in West Chester, it's also nice to take a trip on the open roads (or friendly skies) to broadcast live from a new venue. This time it'll be In the Kitchen with David on Sunday, June 17. I'm thrilled to be a part of this event, which is being held in conjunction with the annual Aspen FOOD & WINE Classic. Quite the place to be, whether you're someone who loves hobnobbing with some of the most talented chefs in the world or—in my case—getting the chance to sample some outstanding wines! There will be breathtaking scenery, gourmet food, and over 100 wines from around the world. I promise we'll share all of this with you, and more! Our camera crews will be out there all week to cover the behind-the-scenes action. You'll feel like you're right there with us!

Count on David having some special show items, as well. I'll be presenting (yes, finally back in stock) that customer top-rated Color Smart Aluminum 10-Piece Cookware Set. If you missed out on the fast sellout of the Today's Special Value from January or if you were waitlisted, it's back!!! This was wildly popular and is some of the best cookware we've ever offered. Get in early! Oh and before I forget: all day long on June 10, the Sunday before Aspen, I have an extra special presentation for you. If you've had your eye on that food processor that chops, dices, slices, purees, and is powerful enough to turn ordinary ice cubes into snow, look for me as I launch a new item in that show from Ninja that'll be the best value EVER. And I'll show you how to make some Ninja ice cream in seconds with frozen fruit and cream—sure to be a refreshing hit as the heat of the summer arrives.

And while it'll be a treat to be a part of all of the festivities of the Aspen FOOD & WINE Classic, for me, it'll be more of a delightful opportunity to take a trip down memory lane as I travel back to a place where we spent a lot of time as a family when my kids were younger. Aspen and Park City, Utah were summer vacation hot spots for us as we traveled from our home in San Francisco. Mom, Dad, and five young children! The promise of the beauty of the outdoors and its many activities called us back each season for golfing, swimming, and unforgettable races down the “Alpine Slide"—a luge without snow, if you will. You sit up in these carts and race down the track at incredible speeds. Not sure who enjoyed that more—me or the kids!

Back in the heyday before kids had computer games and were indoors all day, we awakened at the crack of dawn and spent all day outdoors. Really? You can have fun outside all day? The kids who managed to get up to golf with me loved playing this game we called the “Wild Tees Contest.” Whoever found the most intact tees on the course while I golfed would win a prize. What a frenzy that was! Later in the day, we'd all hike through the mountains looking for new wildflowers. By summer’s end, we had found over fifty species. Those kids would be wiped out, but not enough to keep them from all the barbecue fun that marked the end of the day. Those were some of my best days ever. My kids are all grown, have kids of their own, and they are scattered all over the country now. I miss those days, so I know this will be an emotional reunion for me and the mountains. I'm looking to go out a few days early for some R & R. And after a week of shooting another Ninja infomercial before all of this hullabaloo, there is a really good chance to do so. I think I may even get back on that slide! Won’t you join me?
