Spring Entertaining Series Continues...Brunch, Anyone?

by on ‎03-16-2012 06:07 PM

Hello, foodies…

So often we invite friends and family over for dinner. Of course it make sense…dinnertime is the most convenient time to get together. But this spring, foodies, I'd like to challenge you to invite everyone over for brunch! Not only can you serve those incredible breakfast foods, but you have the opportunity to enjoy the sunshine and warmth of a spring day that feels so refreshing after the winter months. Join me for brunch planning ideas and a delicious recipe this Sunday on In the Kitchen with David. It's all part of our spring entertaining series!

I'm THRILLED to tell you about our "Cookbook Corner" title this weekend. The lovely Tara McConnell…Ms. Temp-tations herself, is bringing us the sequel to her first book! More Hot Recipes in Cool Dishes (F09673) has 100 brand-new recipes including Bacon Cheddar Biscuits, Mini Caramelized Onion Tarts with Feta Cheese, Sparkling Lemonade, Stuffed Peanut Butter Banana Pancakes, and Old World Green Eggs and Ham. I just couldn't wait to try some of these dishes, so I asked Tara for a recipe or two. And, she was kind enough to offer them to all of you! Check them out below. Be sure to join us this weekend…there's been lots of demand for Tara's book, so don't miss the presentation. Order it Sunday and it ships to you March 26.

"David's Recipe" this Sunday is something a little different…we're making a Breakfast Pizza! And, we're building it all on a crispy, flavorful hash brown crust. Have you ever had breakfast pizza? Until recently, I hadn't. But, after one of my In the Kitchen with David team members told me about it, I had to try it. And I liked it so much we decided to make our own version for Sunday's show. My recipe item is the George Foreman Evolve Grill (K33054). Search for the recipe under "Breakfast " on QVC.com. Feel free to use as many recipes as you'd like for your upcoming brunch…especially if you're having a buffet!

"Food for Thought" this week is about hosting a successful brunch buffet. From your standpoint (the host), buffets qualify as the easiest form of entertaining. And, from a guest's standpoint, having the freedom to pick and choose what they want, and at their leisure, is more comfortable. Set up your buffet with that last point in mind…your guests need to have freedom to move at their leisure. So, instead of crowding all the foods around one table, set up stations around your dining room or kitchen. Have the main dishes on one table (or two depending on the number of guests) then put drinks and desserts on a separate table. Arrange everything in order. Plates, silverware, and napkins should precede the food; condiments should follow. Consider using pedestals or a linen-covered, or gift-wrapped, box to add height to your table and more surface space for dishes and plates. Also consider using paper plates to cut-down your clean-up time. Guests needn't feel obligated to help either!

Blog question time: What's your favorite brunch food? Do you like pancakes? A made-to-order omelet? Or maybe you love an assortment of fresh cheeses? Come on foodies, make me hungry! I'll see you Sunday at Noon ET.

Keep it flavorful!
