Our Spring Entertaining Series Starts this Sunday...with Beverages!

Hello, foodies…

We're fast approaching the first official day of spring! Can you feel it in the air? And, can you believe the Easter is just a month away? To help you prepare for the holiday and all those spring gatherings and get-togethers that are sure to sneak up on us, we're starting a spring entertaining series this Sunday on In the Kitchen with David. What's first on our agenda? Beverages!

"Cookbook Corner" includes two books again this week: a brand-new title from Best of the Best…Hall of Fame Southern Recipes (F09775) and Chris Freytag's popular title, Choose This (F09219). Best of the Best brings QVC some of our best-ever books, and they certainly didn't disappoint with their latest. There are 212 incredible Southern favorites in Sunday's selection including Savannah Cheese Grits, Fried Green Tomatoes with Rémoulade, and Georgia Blackberry Cobbler. Get your Advance Order copy. It'll ship to you March 30…just in time for Easter!

Choose This contains 11 categories of quick, satisfying, and good-for-you recipes, like Creamy Avocado Salsa and Pumpkin Patch Pancakes! Sunday is the last day you can get Chris' book at the Featured Price. And, it's in final quantities. Hint, hint!

"David's Recipe" on Sunday is a delicious spin on a classic beverage. We're making my signature drink...Tropical Fruit-Infused Iced Tea. We're starting with tea made with tropical-fruit-flavored tea bags, then we're adding pineapple juice, orange juice, and a little lemonade. We're even making fruit-filled ice cubes with iced tea to keep the tea cold without watering it down. Your guests will be so impressed! Our recipe item is the versatile Vacuum Insulated Travel Tumbler (K8727), which is great for hot drinks, but also perfect for keeping cold beverages cold. Look for the recipe on QVC.com. You'll want to keep this one handy all throughout summer!

"Food for Thought" has to do with a little-known fact about tea. Did you know that by squeezing the tea bag, you can make some teas taste bitter? Most teas, especially black tea, contain tannins which have a distinctive bitter taste. Fortunately, tannins take longer to steep out of the tea than other flavorings. But tannin oils can be released if tea is steeped for too long, or if the bags are squeezed. The exception to this rule is herbal tea. Most herbal varieties, like green and white tea, are entirely or mostly tannin-free. However, to ensure you're always enjoying the best possible iced or hot tea, don't squeeze the bag. Just remove it, and add sugar, lemon, or milk, and enjoy!

For your blog question this week, tell me what's your favorite tea. Do you like classic black tea or maybe green? Or, do you prefer another springtime beverage? Feel free to share any special add-ins your fellow foodies might find interesting! Then, I'll show you how to make my fruit-infused tea—and those clever ice cubes—this Sunday at Noon ET.

Keep it flavorful!

—David

P.S. Looking for a fantastic munchie to serve with your tea or another special beverage at your next party? Chef Grace Parisi, who's also the Senior Recipe Developer at FOOD & WINE magazine, stopped by to show me an incredible recipe for Black Pepper Kettle Corn. Watch how we made it, start to finish, in the video below! Then, check out the recipe on QVC.com. You can even find that great 6-qt stockpot! It's from the Technique Hard Anodized Dishwasher Safe 8-piece Cookware Set (K30701).
