In the Kitchen with David - Celebrating Autumn & QVC's Joy of Christmas!

Hello, foodies…

Fall has officially arrived and it feels like someone just flipped a switch. The air suddenly feels cooler, the days are a little more crisp, and the leaves look heavy on the trees. I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking about the harvest and holiday season! Thus, this Sunday’s In the Kitchen with David will salute the first full weekend of fall and our “Joy of Christmas” celebration. Can you believe Christmas is only three months away? Don’t panic…QVC to the rescue!

Cookbook Corner” this week will feature a brand-new title from one of our favorite brands. Junior’s Dessert Cookbook (F09517) includes more than 75 recipes from the iconic Brooklyn Restaurant and Bakery! Be on the lookout for great cheesecakes, but also recipes for pies, cookies, cakes, and more. I’ve been reading an advance copy at home and the treats look and sound absolutely spectacular. Be sure to grab this book for yourself and some additional copies for gifts...it's priced at less than $19! I can almost taste that creamy cheesecake now!

“David’s Recipe” this week is just a little teaser for all the holiday sweet treats to come. We’re making my Quick, Easy Gingerbread Cookies. This simplified recipe is perfect when you want to whip up a quick batch of crowd-pleasing cookies. Plus, they make your whole house smell like the holidays. We’ll use the Oster 4-in-1 Cordless Twisting Hand Mixer and Blender (K34003) to make these. And, we’ll even tell you how to amend the recipe if you have time to make traditional gingerbread men cut-out cookies. We’ll post the recipe on QVC.com under “David’s Recipes.”

“Food for Thought” this week is an encouragement to “test-drive” some new recipes. With the holidays approaching, it’s great to make your traditional dishes…but why not also try some new ones? I love testing new recipes weeks before the holidays. This way, you have plenty of time to try the recipe and “tweak it” if you need to make any changes. I believe we can all elevate our cooking…it just takes a little practice. So, find that recipe you tore out of a magazine last month and give it a go. Your friends and family are sure to be impressed with something new!

So, here's your blog question for this weekend’s show. As we celebrate the “Joy of Christmas” on Sunday, what's your favorite holiday food? What dish do you most look forward to having at your holiday dinner table? Share your festive recipes here and I’ll look forward to seeing you on Sunday at Noon ET!

Keep it flavorful!

David

P.S. A brand new sweepstakes starts next week on my Facebook page. And, it's sponsored by one of your all-time favorite brands…KitchenAid! I'll share all the details next week! Stay tuned.
