Hello, foodies…

Picture this…the barbecue is winding down, dishes are being cleared from the picnic table, and you're craving something sweet! After the burgers, dogs, and BBQ chicken, what do you serve as a sweet completion to a great summertime meal? On this Sunday’s In The Kitchen with David, we'll help you decide as we're celebrating BBQ desserts. We've got plenty of ideas and even a few recipes in store that you and your family are sure to love!

Cookbook Corner” welcomes a culinary celebrity to QVC with her brand-new book! Whitney Miller, winner of the first season of MasterChef, will debut her new release, Modern Hospitality - Simple Recipes with Southern Charm (F09475). Inside, you'll find more than 75 original recipes that are perfect for entertaining  all have a distinctive, updated southern flare. Despite her young age, this up-and-coming cook crushed the competition on MasterChef and even wowed judge Gordon Ramsay! Be on the lookout for her Pineapple Cooladas, Buttermilk Pan Fried Chicken, and Strawberry Cream Cupcakes. I can’t wait to meet Whitney and taste her incredible food.

David’s Recipe” this Sunday is perfect for serving after your big barbecues. We’re making my Summer Fruit Parfaits with Sweet Cream and Pound Cake. I love this dessert because it uses all the fruits and berries that are so plentiful around this time of year. I also love that we can use store-bought pound cake to cut down on preparation time. We’ll use the 3-1/2" paring knife from the Prepology® 4-Piece Non-Stick Color-Coated Knife Set (K33956) to prep the ingredients. You’ll definitely want to add these colorful knives to your kitchen arsenal. We’ll post my recipe on QVC.com.

“Food for Thought” this week focuses on stocking up on summer pantry must-haves. I love grocery shopping, and I really enjoy stocking up on seasonal needs for my kitchen. As the warm weather rolls around, be sure to keep plenty of summer fruits and veggies on hand. They add such freshness to your meal planning, and also add a much-needed punch of color to your favorite recipes! I also like to keep plenty of meats in my freezer. When I invite friends over, I prefer having all I need in the fridge so that I can maximize time with my company and not worry about last-minute trips to the market. A little pre-planning makes for effortless meals all summer long!

So, here is your blog question this week. Keeping our BBQ desserts theme in mind, what is your favorite dessert to serve after your outdoor summer meals?  Is it homemade ice cream, juicy watermelon, or maybe a fresh fruit cobbler?  Share your sweet ides here, and we’ll talk more about it this Sunday during In The Kitchen with David at Noon ET!

Keep it flavorful!

David
