Happy, Healthy Thanksgiving!

Hello dear friends and co-creators of well-being and growing good,

I love this time of the year! We have been scheming about our menu and plan on doing a few things from our Colorado Fit Kitchen cookbook (F01059), like our awesome pumpkin pie and cinnamon rolls — wellness never tasted so good! Our kids are looking forward to my mom visiting from Vermont. That means endless games of Rummikub and 3-card games. Life is sweet when slow. Thanksgiving is my all-time favorite holiday. I love that the focus is on gratitude, family, and yes, food!

Lately, I've been doing a lot of thinking and research on the topic of gratitude and its relationship to happiness and well-being. You’re going to love this — my research shows that gratitude supports well-being and may even keep you on task with your wellness goals! Keeping a gratitude journal is shown to help with eating healthier and exercising regularly. Gratitude also helps lower stress and ease emotional challenges. It’s good medicine for the body and soul this time of year.

Here's a challenge and motivation for you. Start tonight by taking a few quiet minutes to think about your blessings, look for the greater and growing good in your life, and reflect on the ones you love and appreciate. Then write down the ones that come to mind, and take this feel-good feeling to bed with you. My hope is that you sleep better, wake up more peace-filled, and find yourself with a renewed appreciation for your life and all of its blessings. Please know that I am grateful for you and our Nature’s Code® community. Your light shines and we are all blessed and better for your being. Happy Thanksgiving!

Peace and blessings,

Dr. James
