DAVID: Let’s take this blog and dedicate it to some of the new jewelry, accessories and clothing designs we have coming in for our visits during the month of May!

JOAN: I love the idea. What could be more fun than talking fashion? (And gorgeous fashion at that!)

I’m excited to debut a brand new pair of sunglasses in Shawn Says Accessorize! on May 13^th. I love all of our eyewear, but this particular pair of glasses is gorgeous. Equestrian inspired, they look like something right off the polo field.

DAVID: I love the braided texture and the mock-horse bit on the temple. I’m seeing a lot of high end designers doing glasses around this theme. And big “Jackie-O” style frames are staying in style?

JOAN: Absolutely! The bigger the better. These glasses are going to look great with all the blazers, riding pants, etc., that the designers are showing this year.

DAVID: And later this month, you have two big shows on the 24^th… one at 1-3 pm with Rick and then with Jill from 9-11pm.  

JOAN: Yes, and attention Joan Rivers jacket lovers!!! Six months in the works!! Here’s my salute to the huge floral trend for spring/summer – my brand new Spring Floral Jacket.

DAVID: This one is a stunner. We started by actually creating the floral design and having it printed on the most beautiful textured cotton (with a touch of spandex for comfort!).

JOAN: I love that we got to actually pick out the colors for the printing, see the sample fabrics, and tweak the shades until they were perfect! This is truly one of my favorites of the season!

DAVID: I love that we are offering an assortment of coordinating jewelry pieces for this jacket. This always feels so pulled together, so couture in a way.

JOAN: I want to do this more and more. I love ensembles and the pulled together look they give you. Put these beads, the jacket and the ring together and really look… and feel great.

It’s all about THE TOTAL LOOK for me. (And I love how easy it is to pull your outfit together, too!)

DAVID: I think this also talks back to your theory of dressing: a fantastic top, great accessories and very simple clothing underneath: a black tank and pants or a simple black dress. This jacket would look great with shorts, jeans, leggings….you name it.

JOAN: David, I am now dressing myself and my ladies from head to toe! I looked in the mirror the other day and there was not a thing on my body that we didn’t design. The jacket, pants, shoes, jewelry, watch, even my Great Hair Day!

DAVID: How fantastic is that?? Is it weird to look at the label in your clothes and see your own name? That only happened to me when I went to summer camp as a kid!

Moving on, if you had to pick one thing to add to your wardrobe this season that would be totally hot, current and right NOW, I’m talking a real must have, what would you pick? And I’m talking about “Vogue Magazine” hot!

JOAN: One word: CAFTAN!!!! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this trend. (I sound like Lisa Robertson!!)

First of all, they look fantastic on everyone, no matter how big or small, short or tall, you are. They are super comfortable, so, so chic and totally easy to wear. I love to wear one with big hoop earrings and a gold sandal or platform shoe. I am living in our new animal print version. (I shot this picture myself in our design room. Now you know why I’m a comedian and not a photographer….)

DAVID: Looks like your May appearances are loaded up with fabulous new jewelry and gorgeous new apparel items…

JOAN: I can’t wait! 

DAVID: One last quick question: this Sunday is Mother’s Day. I know this is the one day you always spend with Melissa and Cooper. Any special plans?

JOAN: We will spend the entire day together in Los Angeles. I never plan anything (hey, it’s MY day!) and Melissa always surprises me with something wonderful. I will be sure to talk about it in our next blog.
