Southwestern Balloon Fiesta

Hi Everyone!

Wow, October has been a wonderfully busy month. It started out in London, where we celebrated the 15th Birthday of QVC UK! When I arrived back in New Mexico I had one day to prepare to host ten of my female relatives from Minnesota in a birthday celebration for my mom in Santa Fe and at the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta! We had a blast!! I will never forget the moments we shared and my Aunt Jenny's tears of joy as we watched 700 balloons dancing in a perfect Albuquerque sky, including most of the special shapes....kissing bumble bees, a smiling daisy, the humungous dairy cow, a haunted house, and Noah's ark. In my aunts', sister's, cousins' and mom's words, “this is indescribable”! I sincerely hope that you all have the opportunity to experience the fiesta sometime soon!!!

The day after tearfully sending my family off, Bill and I left for FFANY Shoes on Sale in New York. This is always such an inspiring event, as well as a celebration of the generosity of QVC and all of the companies that donate thousands of fabulous shoes to benefit Breast Cancer research and education. I was extra careful on the dance floor, because I had one of the big challenges of my year coming up in just two days, the 3-day, 60 mile Walk for Breast Cancer in Philadelphia.

This was my fourth year participating in this amazing event. This year, our team consisted of 22 friends, many from QVC. We walked with over 3000 men and women for three inspiring days throughout the suburbs and historic neighborhoods of Philadelphia. The weather was wonderful for walking, perfect crisp, autumn weather. However, it was a little chilly camping and getting dressed in our tents at 6:00am!! I cannot express the love and respect I have for my teammates. From the moment we gathered at 5:00am on Friday morning to board our bus to the opening ceremonies, to the gathering at the finish line on Sunday afternoon, we shared in laughter, tears, blisters, sore muscles, and many wonderful memories. Many people ask me how and why I do this every year. I can't imagine not participating! I don't believe there is a single person walking beside me who hasn't been affected by this disease in some way. And the support of the communities we trek through is truly inspiring. The elementary school teachers and students all dressed in pink lining the streets high-fiving us, the high school cheerleaders welcoming us into a rest stop, the many citizens who come out to offer us water, candy, holding hand made signs of encouragement and the most important treat, a sincere “thank you for walking” as they look you straight in the eye. Sometimes it is simply overwhelming. The pain is definitely worth the gain!

To top off the month, we will be celebrating this wonderful season and the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta with some exciting shows on Thursday, October 23rd!!! We will have two separate two-hour
Southwestern Jewelry shows at 1:00am and 1:00 pm, and a three hour
Sincerely Southwest show at 8:00pm!!!! I really hope you can join me, as we celebrate the colors and cozy memories of this season with many new collections and favorites that you haven't seen in a while! In fact, Fran, you will be happy to see the turquoise and coral ring, J27087, back in stock!

I want to thank you all for your posts. Libby, I am so happy that you love your Today's Special Value, and Elizabeth, I hear you loud and clear about the longer length necklaces!!! The choice of necklaces that extended from 36-40” did sell out quickly, and we are trying hard to get all of the wait list orders shipped as soon as possible. In my meeting with our buyers after the show we definitely agreed that we need to be offering more choices in longer length designs.

GlassLady, if you love the pink and brown Rodeo Romance pieces, you are going to be a very happy GlassLady in the coming months when I'll be showing you something brand new in those lovely romantic colors! Billie, I am so glad that you love your Sunburst collection!!! I have been living in it recently, as I love to wear it with browns and denim.
