Happy Thanksgiving Week!

by on ‎11-25-2009 11:11 AM

Hi Everyone,

When I started to write this week's blog, thoughts of the economy, the situation overseas, American's out of work, H1N1, etc. weighed me down. But I started thinking of all the positive things going on and all the blessings in my life, such as my family, job, friends, home, health, etc. and I decided that overall things were pretty good.

I decided it was time to get in the Christmas spirit and, after all, Christmas is only a month or so away. Wow, where did the year go? I looked back at the blog written last year about potential presents and was pleased to see it still rings true. I still feel good about these so thought I would include it:

“My family always has one request- Jewelry! My Mother, two sisters, three nieces, and four great nieces have come to expect jewelry for Christmas. OK, my one year old great niece, and the one to be born in March aren't quite ready yet, but they will learn very quickly. This year my Mother, Sisters, and two of my nieces will receive pieces from Judith Ripka's collection. I can't tell you which pieces, because they read my blogs, but will let you know some of my favorites.

One of my favorite rings is J24946, especially in mint or champagne quartz. Another is J38321 because it looks just like pink and white diamonds. I love button earrings and
J29833 look very expensive and are extremely flattering. Don't forget that in 2009, it is supposed to be the year of the necklace. Judith's cultured freshwater and silver chain, J39249 is stunning.

I do have family members and friends that don't want jewelry or at least aren't getting any from me. My Stepfather Charlie, who is 96, always wants the lemon, coconut cheesecake , and my closest friends are all getting Junior's chocolate mousse cheese cake . They rave about them every year, so here we go again.

Food and jewelry, what could be better!”

This year I am thinking about giving my three nieces, J8105 . It is a good bit more than I usually spend but the clearance price is so good and I think it is important to give something that is classic and that they will all wear for years to come. My four great nieces will get toys and I can't decide for my Sisters and Mother. They love Judith's designs so I will probably end up with those. A few favorites are: J143820, the gemstone heart ring in Amethyst (Gail's birthstone), J44153, the 36” Diamonique station chain, J107442, the open flower pierced earrings. I am also considering J145167, Gregg Ruth's bold Diamonique sterling ring for Leigh. I am also looking at some of Barbara Bixby's pieces. This year, I am going designer.

STLGAL, I am so glad that you like the new Gregg Ruth ring. I think it is a WOW. Waterbaby, I have passed your appreciation along to the buyers and planners and thank you for your prayers. Charmed-Jenna, I love the little smiley faces, how do you do that? Chmiel, thank you for your beautiful thoughts.

Kaplan206, I reached out to Erin considering the safely pin and she replied:

“I greatly appreciate the support and enthusiasm of the Ripkanista's and will work closely with Judith on a new version of her safety pin. We will take the suggestions of the "ladies" into account when working on the new design. “

Kaplan206, I also wanted to thank you for your continued best wishes for my mom and family. They always mean so much.

JayneH and Shopping Gal, I forwarded your comments on Barbara Bixby's initial Today's Special Value to Allison and she responded:

“Thank you very much for your comments and concerns. I have a strategy meeting soon with Barbara and her team and we will definitely address these issues. We always love getting feedback from you and value your opinions.”

I really do appreciate all of your thoughts and prayers. We are taking Mother home on Wednesday, after nine and a half weeks in the hospital. Even though she will have to have 24 hour care, hopefully being at home will lift her spirits.

Please tune in on November 30 for a very early morning Silver Marketplace. Sandra and I will be on from 5:00 AM to 7:00 AM with many beautiful artisan crafted sterling pieces from around the world. This will be the only time that I will be on air this year.

Take care and have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
