Getting Back to You...

I am traveling this week but wanted you to know that I have been thinking of all of you and your wonderful comments to previous blogs. In the Big Bonanza blog I mentioned about the Larimar Ring that was going on air. I hope you were able to buy it. It was a great rich shade of blue. We were lucky to find one supply of stones in that shape and size.

We are working on more large gemstone rings and earrings where the stone is really highlighted. J13884 is a good example of jewelry where the mounting really shows off the beauty and importance of the gem while giving interesting detail on the ear. I think you will be pleased with some of the new pieces in Gem Week the end of March. Once I return, I will give more details.

There is also a two hour fire opal show during the March Gem Week and the choices are incredible. I know you will find a piece that is just the right one. Let me know what you select and I am sorry about your robbery. There is going to be lots of bling to tempt you.

The Honora button earrings, J28623 are beautiful and very wearable. I spoke with Lisa, the buyer, about doing a pair in 14k gold and she will speak to Joel about it. I should see him next week at the Hong Kong Jewelry Show and will also mention it.

Diamonds come in many colors. In nature, blue, fancy yellow, and pink are extremely rare and very expensive. For good color, they can be $20,000 per carat or up. Other colors such as champagne, black, or soft yellow can be natural and much more affordable. The same goes for pearls. There are natural chocolate pearls found in Tahiti but they are also very rare and very expensive. Our pearl supplier enhances the color of freshwater cultured pearls to match the rich color of the Tahitian pearls. Great examples of this are J26415 and J15520.

Abalone is one of my favorite shells and we do use very little of it at QVC. I love the rich deep colors and the play of light. I will speak to Lisa about this and will actually be meeting with our key supplier of it next week. Have you seen the artisan crafted piece from Indonesia, J17832? It is very big and bold but quite beautiful. I don't think abalone is in short supply but will double check during my trip.

I looked through our inventory and didn't find what I consider to be just the right earring to go with a Mona Lisa necklace. I will ask Jeanne, the buyer, what she has in the works.

Sorry to be so short with my responses but I am rushing home to finish packing for my trip. I hope you all have a great week.

Take care, Peyton
