Global Jewelry Fest

How about a trip around the world? My first time to fly all the way around was in the early 80's. It was on Pan Am and what an adventure it was. At the time I was buying loose stones for Best Products I started out in Antwerp buying diamonds, on to Israel for larger diamonds, then to India for smaller diamonds as well as Emeralds, Thailand for Sapphires, Rubies, and semi-precious, and finally in Hong Kong for opals. The trip took four weeks and you couldn't fly direct between most of the destinations. It seems like most of the trip was spent either in airports or on planes. You all know what it is like to be stuck on a plane for hours-no fun.

This week, QVC is going to take you around the world from the comfort of your own home. We will visit exotic places like Jaipur, India and Nepal, hear wonderful stories on Chinese Jade from a noted Chinese scholar, Yim Tom, be educated and entertained by the colorful Suarti from Indonesia, and travel the cobblestone streets of Taxco with Dominique Dinouart.

One of the highlights of the week, in my opinion, will be Saturday, February 9 at 9:00 PM. A two hour Silver Market Place will be on with none other than the beautiful, brilliant, and extremely nice Lisa Robertson and, oh yea, yours truly. We will be visiting many wonderful countries including India, Mexico, Indonesia, Nepal, China and Thailand. I will be sharing with you some of the stories and manufacturing techniques that can only be found in artisan crafted jewelry from around the world at QVC. Some of my favorite pieces will be back, as well as many new items.

Please watch and call in if you have any questions or comments. They may let me answer some questions on-air from the blog, so be sure and send some in.

I am off to Tucson for the big gem show this week and will share my finds once I return.

Take care, Peyton
