Your comments and questions

I'm currently in Europe attending the Vicenza Jewelry Show and wanted to take this time to respond to some of your comments.

A big hello to Mary Ann. We did graduate in 1971 from the same high school and I remember you well. Thanks for the kind words and I hope you are having a wonderful life.

I really appreciate all the great comments about the artisan crafted silver jewelry. We really go to great lengths to find unique and beautiful product that you can't find anywhere else. Most of these products are exclusive to QVC.

Lisa, our gemstone buyer confirmed that her team is working on a large button pearl earring with Honora. She could not tell me when it will be finished but it is in development. I spoke with Joel Schechter, CEO of Honora Pearls, and he told me that pearl stands that are not worn frequently never need restringing. He goes by the when the pearls “jiggle” or if you see discoloration on the thread then they should be restrung.

I also spoke with Lisa about a star cut ginger quartz but she wasn't very optimistic about it. During my next trip to Asia, I will see what I can find. I will definitely be writing more about other stones in the future. Zircon and Alexandrite are two of the most interesting gemstones and I can't wait to share information about them with you. We tried to do a program with Alexandrite a few years ago but could not find a consistent supply of gem quality Alexandrite. To be considered Alexandrite, the stone must have at least a specific minimum amount of color change not just a color shift. More about this later. I did have a garnet ring that my Mother gave to me years ago but it was stolen during my college days.

Eight years or so ago we did carry a line from Kruger. There were quite a few beautiful pieces. Unfortunately, we do not have any of these products left. I did speak to David, the buyer from that time, and he confirmed that it would not be possible to obtain any of their products today. When I return from overseas, I will call Barry Cord and speak to him about product direction. He usually likes to keep his gold and silver collections unique from each other. One of my favorite pieces of jewelry from his collection is the bee and butterfly cross. I think more charms are a great idea and I will run it by him as well.

Jeanne, the gold buyer is also in Vicenza and I will be sure to ask her about a gold circle pin. It sounds like a great idea and something that I would love to buy as well. Judith Ripka is one of my favorite people. She is so sweet and kind hearted and an excellent jewelry designer. Unfortunately, we do not carry the stackable ring set with blue and green sapphires any longer.

Please keep writing to me with your comments and questions. I greatly appreciate you input and hope to be able to address them all.

I am off to Italy, Prague, and Switzerland and will be in touch when I return. Don't forget to tune in on my birthday, January 21, for Silver Market Place. I will see you then.

Take care, Peyton
