QVC's 21st birthday

Where were you on your 21st birthday? It is really a big deal. In many states we are considered legal with all the responsibilities that go along with that. Growing up in Louisiana, I think it was the age of 18 (on Bourbon Street, even earlier) but the big 21 was still important.

In 1974, when I turned 21, I was attending Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. I was majoring in Finance and trying to figure out what to do when I grow up. By that age you have hopefully gone through the growing pains and start to have a clear vision of where you are headed. I was working in Neiman Marcus at North Park Mall and getting my first taste of the retail world. It also was a topsy-turvy year personally. I woke up one morning with horrible pains in my side and was diagnosed with kidney stones. Not a fun thing to have surgery and a 10 inch scar when you are 21. Oh well, I never wore a Speedo anyway.

QVC is turning 21 and it is a most exciting time. We have grown incredibly over these last years through totally focusing on our core values-quality, value, and convenience. The employees at QVC are a true team. We all go through a training course called The QVC Difference. These values are what really set QVC apart-Customer Focus, Teamwork, Pioneering Spirit, Commitment to Excellence, Respect and Concern for each other, Ethics and Integrity, Openness and Trust, and Fun along the Way. These are the cornerstones of QVC and what makes me very proud to work here.

A big Happy 21st birthday to QVC. Where were you on your 21st birthday?
