Gem Day! And please vote - we want to hear from you!

Gem Day has finally arrived and let me tell you, the array of gemstones is incredible!  From Kunzite, to Fire Opal, Baltic Amber, Pink Tourmaline, Sleeping Beauty Turquoise, Alexandrite, and beyond, it’s going to be an incredible journey through some of the greatest gemstone mines around the world.

Exceptional brilliance and sparkle, a rainbow of colors, and fine craftsmanship come together as our spectacular Gemstone Cuff TSV.  Only QVC can offer you Master Cut™ gemstone jewelry, precision cut and distinctly faceted gemstones based on superior cutting and polishing standards.  Brazilian gemstone cutters were trained in Idar Oberstein, the finest cutting center in the world, came to our special factory and taught the managers and cutters these techniques.  Cutting and polishing machines were designed for precision cutting and refined faceting to be used only in QVC’s Master Cut™ gemstone jewelry.

Even though the Sleeping Beauty Mine has been closed since 2012, barrels of rough turquoise are still being found hidden away in storage rooms and collections.  One of our gemstone suppliers found a large barrel of Sleeping Beauty Turquoise of the finest color at the Tucson Gem Show.  He purchased the entire barrel and offered all of it to us.  There was enough rough turquoise to do three hours of programming.  Two of my favorite turquoise pieces are the 14K gold Byzantine Ring (J294756) and the Ecclissi Sleeping Beauty Turquoise Sterling Watch (J296396).

Our Vault Discoveries™ are just as exceptional for this Gem Day.  These are hard-to-find gemstones limited in availability.  I recently traveled to three of the world’s most important gemstone cutters and searched their vaults for unusual, exotic, and extraordinary gemstones.  I found small parcels of cut and rough gemstones that haven’t been seen in many years.  The range is vast and incredible, and each stone has a remarkable story.

During my 16 years at QVC, I have dreamed of bringing a Bicolor Tourmaline to you.  Every Tucson Gem Show, I would search high and low for this extremely exotic stone.  I could find one or two but never more than that in the color and quality that I wanted.  The owner of the largest Brazilian gemstone company in the world opened his personal vault to me and, impossibly, he had a small number of gem quality Bicolor Tourmaline.  Please don’t miss this exceptional ring (J290296), we will never be able to do this again!

From this same personal vault, comes our first (and only) hot pink Tourmaline bracelet (J294763) and ring (J294748).  The intensity of the color and vibrancy of the gemstones make each piece exceptional and rare.

The largest red Fire Opal (J294963) I have ever seen comes from another gemstone collector in Thailand.  The intense red color and incredible size make this a real collector’s item.  He also collected over the course of many years a group of the largest oval Kunzite (J294914) that we have ever been able to offer.

We were also able to find a small collection of brilliant red Rubies from Thailand.  There will be an hour of this gorgeous product but every item is limited.  I am most excited we have been able to find rubies over 2 carats each, but please note, there is very limited availability; 8 pieces to be exact.  This extremely precious stone, (J295032) mined over 20 years ago from a mine that no longer exists will come in its own unique viewing box with a certificate.

I know I am going on a bit long, but have to mention two Affinity Diamond Vault Discoveries™.  One is our first and only Affinity diamond band ring (J296016) of VS quality and H color.  Surveyed by the Gemological Institute of America, each diamond is spectacular with a brilliant sparkle.  And last, but far from least is an Affinity Diamond Bracelet (J294716) set in 14K gold with diamond weights ranging from 4 1/2 carats to 5 1/3 carats depending on the length.  These treasures are finally coming to light after hiding in a major diamond dealer’s vault in New York City.

And a special shout out to our honored guest, Maurice Ostro, Chairman of Ostro Minerals.  This will be his first time on air in the USA and he recently has been appointed OBE in Her Majesty The Queen’s Birthday Honours List.  The Order of the British Empire recognizes distinguished service to the arts and sciences, public services outside the Service and work with charitable and welfare organizations of all kinds.

I know there are many more of your favorite gemstones you would like to see more of on QVC.  Please let me know what those are - I want to hear from you!
