Fall Flashes, Fashion Flair and Football Fun!

by on ‎09-25-2013 11:29 AM

Hi Everyone,

I am a fan of the seasons. I love all four seasons, each bringing change and something new and completely different. Every three months my senses are freshly intrigued and invigorated.

As a designer, change, growth and differentiation is essential and the arrival of each season, always new and different, inspires and excites me.

The gorgeous colors and cool brisk breezes of Fall refresh my soul, and the leaves in their kaleidoscope of hues, shades and tones, vibrant, earthy and ephemeral, captivate me. The lingering and wind swept leaves are to be beheld and cherished until they fall away and winter begins. But for these next three months, I am glad that the dog days of August are behind me and my new collection to design before me.

 * The beginning of Fall in Central Park.

I am writing this on Sunday the 22nd, the last day of summer and the first day of Autumn. Ron and I traditionally spend this transition day in Central Park before he retires to his study to watch football all afternoon. As soon as I am finished with this blog I will join him, more to share his time than the games.

* Ron’s Study. Yes, he watches two games at a time. Men!

We awakened early and as typical in NYC, when we stepped outside heading to Central Park, literally ran into something new, a Road Race down Fifth Avenue.

* Leaving for the Park.

* Road Race on Fifth Avenue.

We paused to watch the runners speed past us and then ate breakfast in an outdoor café adjacent to the Conservatory Pond where we had bagels and croissants, drank coffee (Ron) and tea (me), while watching the toy sailboats whisk across the water .

* Breakfast

* Conservatory Pond

* Sailboats

After breakfast, we strolled, holding hands, stopping from time to time to take in so many special pleasures.

We sat awhile watching two love birds perched on a small wood raft.

* Love Birds sitting on a board.

* Love Birds kissing.

Then we took our turn at a telescope to see Pale Male, a Red tailed Hawk, with impeccable taste who was squatting with his family in a nest on the ledge of a Penthouse of a white glove Fifth Avenue building.

* A friend looking at at Pale Male.

When the building tried to oust him and his family, the hue and cry of the people stopped the eviction and Pale Male, now a local celebrity, preens in gratitude for his many fans.

* Pale Male in all his splendor. What a ham!

Our next stop was the statue of Alice in Wonderland donated to the city by Mrs. DeLaCort, where our grandchildren loved to come and climb around the Mad Hatter and Cheshire Cat to nest into Alice’s lap.

* Alice & the children! Who doesn't love this?

Our grandchildren are too old for this now but we love to see joy on the faces of the little ones and their parents as they recreate the moments which we shared with our children and grandchildren. Some things thankfully never change.

But Fall really started for me two weeks ago when Fashion Week began in New York, then traveled to London,Paris and Milan. With the kids back in school, I turn to the runways to learn what will be the trends, colors and shapes for the next season. This year I saw mostly monochromes in muted hues, sometimes layered, sometimes "drapey", belt-less and uncomplicated. I loved this because it makes jewelry even more important as the clothes offer a pure backdrop against which jewelry will provide the individuality and personalized style. My goal is to colorize properly and create distinctive designs which will not overwhelm, but complement the clothing.

Before I get too far ahead of myself, I must stay in the present as all of my prior efforts have allowed me to bring to you some very special pieces for this holiday season. So, Fall also signals the start of the all important holiday season. It was last spring’s Fashion Week which inspired this new collection which kicks off on my shows this weekend. Tune in this Saturday, September 28th from 1:00pm to 3:00pm and 8:00pm to 10:00pm and Sunday, September 29th from 4:00am to 6:00am4:00pm to 6:00pm, to see the beginnings of my new special collection.

The first new collection is the Sleeping Beauty Turquoise Collection:

These are the only sleeping beauty Turquoise pieces in my collection. The sleeping beauty mine closed over a year ago and the material is very difficult to acquire. I worked closely with the suppliers in order to find the stones and designed around them into appropriate sizes. This is a limited opportunity so do not miss it. I am offering a cuff (J287387), a ring (J287388) and an enhancer (J287389). Turquoise lovers among you will find this particular stone to be unique and appealing.

On Sunday, I will reveal my new Eclipse Collection featuring colored Mother of Pearl with Crystal Quartz to simulate the look of faceted Blush Garnet which I use in my Couture collection. The collection was incredibly popular but Blush Garnet is expensive, very rare and difficult to produce in quantity. Therefore, I recreated the look using Mother of Pearl and Crystal Quartz and it is stunning. There will be button earrings (clip and pierced) (J286569), a double drop earring (J284778), a ring (J284784) and an enhancer (J284795). This last group will not be available until 4:00pm on Sunday as I was afraid it would be sold out before it aired and I wanted everyone to have a fair chance to purchase it. So, no pictures on this blog as I wanted everyone to see it first on the show.

Watch, have fun and let me know what you think.

All my best,

Judith
