Diamonique From Day One!

When Diamonique jewelry first came to QVC, I was a "baby" host still wet behind the ears.  It was 1987 and we were a fledgling company. We decided to bring in a new type of simulated diamond that would be better than any other called Diamonique.  There were copious meetings, training sessions and more. Finally I got to present it on air (the first was a one carat total weight ring set in 14k gold, J591. (That's the only item number I've ever remembered!)  I thought I did a great job until my boss called me in and told me I had called it "Diamond-ique" for the entire show. Uh-oh!

Even though I couldn't say it, I quickly fell in love with it. The early designs were only set in gold, but eventually sterling silver came along and I was so excited!  There's one ring I treasure to this day; a large marquise stone with baguettes on either side set in yellow gold.  I bought it for my Mom and she wore it proudly. I am thrilled to tell you that ring is almost 25 years old, and still sparkles on my hand the way it did on my Mom's.

I also remember the time we thought it would be a great idea to compare a one carat diamond ring to the Diamonique stone.  All went very well until we got the stones mixed up and couldn't figure out which was real and which one was Diamonique.

But my favorite one through the years were the earrings I designed and wore on my wedding day. I wanted a sterling bow on the ear with a pear drop and couldn't find it anywhere. My friend from QVC said, "sketch it out and we will make it for you". I was even more pleased when we sold them after the wedding day, and many brides sent me their picture wearing my wedding earrings.

Not bad for someone who couldn't even say it right on the first day!
