You know how you get ready for a big event? Like a wedding or graduation? You pick out your dress, coordinate with your sisters, (because no one wants to show up in the same outfit!) and look forward to the big day. That's how we feel about
Gem Day! All the hosts have brought in their outfits and the experts are out shopping for model clothes so we set off the gems to perfection. Since gem day only happens once a year we are all excited for the event on
June 27th. I get to shop with you at midnight and at the end of the day so I had to pick out two dresses: fun!
There are two gorgeous shades on Gem day this year, colors that are popular but hard to get. Not this Gem day! They are
rose blush garnet and
London blue topaz. You may have heard me tell the story of being at the National Museum of Natural History in Washington DC in the amazing gem gallery. A young couple was talking about their birthstones, commenting on how
garnets are red. I almost started telling them that garnets come in many colors, but my daughter's expression told me not to be the annoying gem expert! Anyway, rose blush garnet was quite a find when it was first discovered in Brazil. It has a beautiful rosy glow, unlike the classic warm color of traditional garnet. All
garnets are thought to signify safe travel and a happy homecoming. Rose blush is a feminine, lovely shade in the gem world and you'll see more of it this Gem Day than ever before!
Our next stunning shade is the deepest and the most popular color of
topaz, London blue. It has always been popular at QVC but there have been times when we just could not get the gem. This year will be a banner year for
London blue topaz lovers and the color is intense and exciting. No wonder ancient cultures felt the stone had the power to put out fires, but not the fire of love, because the gift of topaz is the gift of love and fidelity. Next week, the final Rock Star entry before Gem day! See you next week!
As always, take a look at my latest
