Back to Pennsylvania with Blisters Healing!

A week ago, Nancy Hornback and I spent an amazing weekend together, walking 60 miles over 3 days for breast cancer.  We walked ALL over Philadelphia, through beautiful neighborhoods where schoolchildren came out to cheer us on, to the historic sights of downtown, and ending at the majestic Navy Yard.  The official cheering stations, as well as the countless signs and decorations on private homes and businesses, often brought tears to my eyes.  We met so many wonderful people along the way.  I am proud to say this was my 8th walk; however, that is nothing compared to Jim from San Jose.  While he walked for a few miles with us, we learned that this was his 31st 3Day 60 mile walk, and that he plans to do all 7 across the country this year!  In fact, he’s walking in Seattle this weekend.  Jim walks for his mother.  We met another gentleman who calls himself the Pink Fireman.  He followed the course in his custom painted truck that is dedicated to fighting breast cancer in honor of his three sisters.  There were many moving stories, and we met so many brave and passionate women along the way.  Yes, 60 miles is a long and painful walk, especially during the 10 miles it down poured.  But a few blisters are nothing compared to the battle so many face against this awful disease.  I will do it again next year.  Thank you for your love and support, Nancy and I truly felt it along the way.

Fall is my favorite season, let’s celebrate together!

Sincerely,

Carolyn
