Baltic Amber and summer stroll in Gdunsk – Poland

by on ‎07-15-2014 12:22 PM

It is Summer time in Gdank and finally the sun is out and I stroll down the streets enjoying the beautiful colors of my home town on the Baltic Sea. This is the best time to stroll the streets and the shops, with the most joyful assortment of amber jewelry displayed on wooden carts and in shop windows in every direction. Rows of earrings overwhelm the senses, while bracelets line the shelves beside a glass case full of necklaces and unique brooches.

Baltic amber is a gift that Mother Nature has prepared for us forty million years ago. Among hundreds of gems you may know only three of them are of plant origin – amber, diamonds and jet. Amber is organic so it may contain some pieces of ancient fauna or flora. You never know what you can discover in your Baltic Amber jewelry piece!

I was so excited when QVC invited me to take part of the Gem Day event and knew it is time to bring a new Amber statement.  For this show I am excited to launch a stunning collection of unusual blue amber and carved stones. Achieved by our long time experience with the raw material led us to bring the gorgeous blue color out of the Amber.

Only 20 percent of all amber stones are pure enough to carve them so we had to select the purest stones.  After selecting the stones - each stone was carved by hand. Only the most skilled artists are able to carve cameos. It takes years to learn how to carve cameos, and this amazing flower-design Ring is a perfect example.
