The ""theme"" for my upcoming shows...

As often happens – I’ve noticed that even though it is sometimes subconscious – I often find as we approach a show that there is a theme running through it. Although this theme may be interpreted in many different ways, many of the pieces for Sunday's shows are representations of protective amulets.

Talismans and amulets have existed for millennium and this has always been a fascinating subject to me.  I believe that the true magic of these pieces lies not with any actual power that the pieces hold independent of the wearer but rather that they act as reminders to us that we have guides and angels, our faith and our integrity to protect us, not only from life’s physical harm but from jealousy, greed, deceit, and any other negative energy that exists around us.

Some of the more traditional protective pieces are the hamsa which facing up wards off the evil eye.  Crosses have been worn for thousands of years to remind people of God’s love and protection.  The Buddha would be another traditional symbol of compassion and love.

Even the grasshopper that has brought such an incredibly wonderful reaction from so many of you acts as a reminder that leaps of faith are a necessary part of our spiritual and personal evolution.  Although not traditional, this acts as it’s own kind of protective talisman.  I feel the same way about my signature lotus motif, which I choose to carry through the collections as a reminder that our higher power helps us to obtain our spiritual goals.  The orchid, which symbolizes truth, beauty, and perfection reminds us that we are protected by remaining true to ourselves and appreciating the beauty of our blessings.

I’m very excited about the new pieces as well as bringing back some of my absolute favorites!
