A Week in the Life of a Very, Very Busy Lady

David:

I thought an interesting topic for this week’s blog would be…. Joan Rivers! I took one look at her schedule for this week and was exhausted just reading what Joan’s days consisted of.

So Joan, walk us all through a typical week in your life.

Joan:

OK, it all looks crazy but remember, I have great support from my assistants Jocelyn, Graham, and of course Sabrina on the west coast.

I’ll start with last Thursday night where you find me at QVC with my darling Lisa Robertson. She was hosting a show called Lisa’s Posh Presents and was featuring my very favorite necklace of the moment, J154416, Jeweled Sensation.

I love this necklace so much I am even twittering about it! I haven’t taken it off!

The very next morning after QVC I drove to Boston with Graham for a sold out comedy concert. I brought my sweet dog Max, a Pekinese rescue, along for company. After the show, I headed back to New York and spent a bit more quality time with my puppies…then off the next day to another concert in Chester, PA, not far from QVC. Lots of my good friends from QVC came to see me backstage.

David:

I got the calls the next day! Everyone said you were hilarious and they all had a fabulous time. A whole group went back stage to say hello afterward and they said you were very gracious and took lots of pictures.

So then on Sunday…let me guess, a quiet day around the house in pajamas??

Joan:

How long have you known me? I flew to Birmingham, Alabama and performed. After the show, Graham and I drove to Atlanta for an early morning flight back to New York. Well, we got terribly lost because EVERY street in Atlanta is called Peachtree! Peachtree Court, Peachtree Circle...I thought I would lose my mind!!  At one point, I actually got out of the car on a busy road and flagged someone down to give us directions to the Hyatt!

David:

Please do me a favor - next time stay in the car? But I have to admit, you are fearless.

Joan:

So here’s where it really turns into a nightmare...my suitcases never arrived back in New York and are still missing! Good old Delta Airlines has managed to lose two giant trunks full of my stage costumes. I guess I’m onstage next week in jeans and a tee shirt!

So on Monday I did a full day of press for the DVD release of the documentary Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work.

Joan's DVD

That night I took my good girlfriend, gossip columnist, Cindy Adams to a movie screening and then out to dinner. She is one of my oldest and dearest friends.

Tuesday- more press for the DVD release and on stage at the Laurie Beecham Theater in New York City. It’s a tiny little club that I play and all of the money goes to my two favorite charities:  God’s Love We Deliver and Guide Dogs for the Blind.

Wednesday, I was off to LA to shoot another episode of Fashion Police on E! While in LA I had lunch with my good girlfriend Kathy Griffin.  I ADORE her.

That night, I attended the big final episode party for Larry King! He has been a wonderful friend and a true supporter throughout my career. I will miss that show and Larry so much!

David:

And finally back from LA and to QVC for your last Anniversary shows of the year. Friday 1-3AM and 6-7PM with Rick.

Joan:

And working with Rick Domier is always such a treat.

Joan:

It has been a wonderful 20 years at QVC. It’s become a second home to me.

I want to take this time to thank all of the wonderful QVC customers who have been so loyal to me all these years. You are truly special and so very important to me. Here’s to another 20 years!!
