I know they say “dogs are a man’s best friend” but a little dog named Diamond is this girl’s best friend!  At 14 years old and weighing in at all of 3 pounds, Diamond is my best buddy, the daughter I never had and the best side kick ever.  Being so teeny, it’s easy for Diamond to travel with me everywhere – work, vacations, the New York Flower Market (see, doesn’t she look happy amongst the flowers?), the farm – all she needs is a pocket or the palm of my hand and “viola” instant companion!    

She shares the house with my son’s dog Dutch.  Dutch is a Pitt Bull/German Shepherd that we adopted when he was four years old.  Dutch  is so good to her and let’s her have her way.  Diamond is the boss and Dutch is the gentleman.  I guess you could say that Diamond has all of us in the palm of her hand!  I love them both so much!

And they are smart little friends too!   My husband Joe has the rule “no dogs on the bed.”  Well, of course Joe knows that cannot apply to Diamond who demands to sleep with us every night.  And when it comes to Dutch, every morning when he hears Joe leave for work, Dutch comes running into our bedroom and takes his spot right next to Diamond.  I enjoy this so much, that I always take a picture of the two dogs sleeping and send it to Joe with a note, “look who’s sleeping in your bed.”   We all know who “rules” the roost in our house!
