The month of October has been lovely and mild in Ireland, and we are counting down to Halloween.

Did you know that the festival has its origins in Ireland, and comes from the Celtic festival  of 'Samhan' - marking the end of the Celtic year, and a time when the door to the Outerword opens, when the fairies and the dead can communicate with the living world! And of course it a fun time for children. They will be dressing up and going from house to house for 'trick or treats'!

In the meantime there is lots of work to do in the garden, and we had the pleasure of a visit of my daughter Elenor, and her boyfriend Darren, who were home from England for the weekend.

With my daughter Elenor and boyfriend Darren collecting wind fallen apples from our apple trees!

Elenor with our springer spaniel, Hero!

Watson steals an apple!

With the pumpkin - it will be my job to carve it into a Jack O Lantern!
