Make Your New Year’s Fitness Resolution Last the Entire Year

by on ‎12-23-2013 11:39 AM

We all know that January is the very best time to start your new fitness resolution! The parties are over, the kids are in school, and you’re back to your regular schedule. Now it’s time to make the changes you’ve been waiting to do all last year.

You’ll be happy to know it’s quite simple! Just follow these easy steps:

First, choose an exercise that’s FUN! If you enjoy working out, you’ll do it more often and ultimately see better results!

Secondly, choose an exercise that grows with you, even if you start with just 10 minutes a day. When you’re ready, challenge yourself to get more fit every time you train by walking faster, going longer, or doing a few more reps with each workout.

Thirdly, plan a weekly menu in advance so you’ll know what you need to buy at the grocery store. You’ll save time and reduce restaurant takeout orders. Also, consider reducing sugar, simple carbs, and sodas—and season-up delicious veggies and lean meats. And when you do order takeout, here’s one of my favorite tricks. Order salads and extra vegetables with just one entrée and split if between two people!

Don’t be hard on yourself. If you sneak a piece of candy or dessert, keep a positive attitude and savor it. Don’t hate yourself.

Lastly and most importantly, remember you and only you are in charge of your health, body, and life. Make your health the number one priority for 2014, because when you lose your health, you’ve lost one of the most precious gifts we have!

Happy New Year and Happy New You!
