That unmistakable hint of fall is in the air! For me that means one thing-FOOTBALL! I love the game at all levels and at all times of the day. There is nothing like the excitement I feel as I walk towards our local high school football stadium and hear the band playing the fight song on a Friday night. I’m always in heaven when I can sit in front of my TV on a fall Saturday afternoon and watch my Michigan Wolverines (Please don’t bring up the Alabama game. Thank you!) And, of course, Sundays and Mondays were made for the NFL!
The 2012 season officially kicked off last Wednesday evening with an exciting NFC East rivalry between the Dallas Cowboys and the defending Super Bowl Champion New York Giants. It looks like the Boys are back as Tony Romo led his team to a 24-17 victory over the powerful G-men. Guess what? IT ONLY GETS BETTER FROM HERE!
There were a lot of interesting moves in the offseason which are bringing a lot of hope and anticipation for fans across the country especially if you follow the Bucs, Dolphins, Colts and Raiders. All four of these teams have brought in first year head coaches. The Dolphins and the Colts are starting rookie quarterbacks to go along with their rookie coaches (Colts fans are happy that “Luck is on their side!”) The Browns and Seahawks will also have first-year signal callers under center. I was happy to see Pete Carroll hold a good “old fashioned quarterback competition” and give the job to the lower paid Russell Wilson out of Wisconsin. Wilson clearly outplayed the “higher priced” Matt Flynn in the pre-season and was rewarded with the job. He brings a ton of energy and a real spark to the Seattle offense.
